About a year ago, my Apple Airport Extreme died. I brogut it to the Apple store and they said it wasn't repairable. What do do with this old piece of hardware? I decided to take off the top cover and rubber bottom and glue them together. I now have the perfect Apple coaster that matches my minimalistic Apple computer and accessories.

This is also posted on my Flickr page HERE.

Haha this is great! I now have a coaster if my Airport Extreme ever dies. But I fear that won't be anytime soon. It is too reliable!

Very cool. Too bad my airport has lasted about 6 years. Oh well. I'll keep this in mind if it does die. Nice work

That's awesome! Is is bad that I kind of want mine to die now so I can do this?

There are some broken ones posted on eBay, but they're still listed with a steep price.

I was going to suggest eBay too for broken ones, but I wasn't aware of the price they were going for.

Excellent idea! I might have to do this if mine should die. I really do like the aesthetics, and it would go great on any computer desk.

    :D

I'll keep this in mind. My current AirPort Extreme has been going strong for 6 years, so maybe someday!

old mac mini is the same size as an airport extreme (I should know, I've got mine stacked on top of an old mini)

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

I have an old Airport Extreme that works partially but has been collecting dust for over a year now. Might as well put it to good use.

Are these parts easy to take off, or does it destroy the rest of the thing?
