Hi I just bought a MBP, my first Mac. I don't know how to use this thing, but am looking forward to learning OSX. Now, my first destination was apple.com, but the tutorial videos don't work. http://movies.apple.com/findouthow/mac/

I can see the Anotomy of a Mac picture, with the "Click to Play" prompt, but when I click nothing happens.

I'm using a current 15" MBP and Safari 5- clean, no extra add ons.

FWIW, videos on youtube, etc work fine.

The page didn't fully load. Apple's Web site doesn't use Flash and if you're MacBook is new it's running the latest version of QuickTime X.

I would try clicking the Safari application menu, then choosing Empty Cache and reloading the page.

i emptied the cache and still no luck. I also found that the apple homepage doesn't load properly; there should be a big iphone4 ad where the blank white space is.

Funny, this thing's 36 hours old and is having problems displaying the apple webpage???

Yes, updated all software as part of the initial setup.

Update: interestingly, everything works fine with google chrome!

For some reason the safari 5 doesn't display the apply.com homepage nor plays the tutorial vids, yet chrome is fine?

either you need quicktime or use another browser.
Quicktime is standard on macs, and their website.
Try searching on youtube for the tutorial vids, but you really don't need them. Macs show you how to work, just take the wheel and drive.

use safari not chrome, and register your mbp with apple.com as well as create an account. Download the latest free quicktime program, I am sure you have it, but do it anyway.
