Mixed feelings. Mostly nostalgia for 2005, I was 25 and just go out of university. Used to love it, now I don't really use it any longer. Like some old t-shirts. :(

Convertos (search it in the Mac app store) is a good Control Center widget replacement for the Apple unit converter Dashboard widget.

I'm still looking for a good Control Center widget replacement for Dashboard sticky notes.

It's kind of odd to think that it was a precursor to Steve's iPhone vision. Originally, he intended for the iPhone to run web-apps rather than have an App Store, and Dashboard was a collection of glossy, skeuomorphic, web-apps with rounded rectangular icons and charming-but-cheesy animations.

Two years before we had this:

Dashboard was a me-too rip-off of Konfabulator (which was later acquired by Yahoo, just to die a slow and lonely death, exactly like Dashboard does now.

Quick access to a monthly view of the calendar to see what days fall where. Oh well. Fn+F12 is how I accessed it. Much faster than actually opening the calendar program.

All these eliminations of core services is necessary for the transition to ARM processors and a convergence of macOS and iOS. It won't be long until the dock is eliminated and eventually the finder in the next few itterations. Launchpad will probably replace the dock in the next macOS.

I use it daily as a world clock (9 clock widgets for all the locations that I have team members in). It helps when trying to find an optimal time to schedule meetings when everyone is spread all across the globe. I am open to suggestions on apps to replace this functionality.

Try the (built in) World Clock in Notification Center's Today view. You can add multiple locations and it is one click away.

Not sure how web apps (they ran entirely on webkit) that didn't need to be compiled depend on a processor. If they couldn't make Dashboard work on an ARM processor they're going to have a heck of a time displaying a website.

They're killing it because it basically was replaced with Notification Center and it is one less thing to have to maintain support for.

Very sad! I use it multiple times a day to quickly check on stocks, weathers, packages at a click of a side button on my mouse to have it slide in as an overlay and back out in seconds. Will be something that may make me hold back updating along with the quick editing features of QuickTime 7.

All of these can be accomplished in Notification Center's Today view. Stocks and Weather are built in and I believe there is a free package tracking app that can be added.

I don't really use it any longer. Like some old t-shirts. :(

I had many old t-shirts adorned with text and images only a young person can convincingly wear. Years to collect, then one day I saw an old person in the mirror looking ridiculous.

Fortunately, I have no such attachment to Dashboard. The telemetry Apple collects showed most people ignored it. The masses have voted.

Bye old friend. I've used it nearly every day since Tiger, and when I read it was disappearing it was a little sad as I still remember the excitement back then during the Tiger keynote. I've moved a few things in to the notifications bar, but I'll miss Dashboard in its overlay mode. It would of been nice if they left it in the OS disabled by default for those of us that still used it daily :(

Any suggestions for a Notifications area replacement for the Unit Converter?
Spotlight does it. Keyboard shortcut for spotlight, then type "2 lbs in kg" or whatever.

That's no good! I added a hot key so I can use the feature daily. It makes it so simple to access Calculator, Stickies, and Conversions.

Likewise, I access it multiple times a day for quick thesaurus and dictionary usage while I’m writing, calculator access, weather updates etc. and will definitely be delaying updating.
Information at a glance without needing to load an app, obviously.

I suspect you are also confused by what a notification centres purpose is.

Hi guys, whilst it's very sad about Dashboard, you might all be very excited to learn about a hot new feature called Notification Centre which has been around a good while now and basically covers all the needs you've listed here. Apart from Stickies, but that's an included app that can live on your desktop anyways.
