There is so much negative press for Apple in the main stream media at the moment. The notch, the price of the iPhone x, the iPhone bring slowed down, the EU making them pay their Irish tax bill etc etc.

It's like they're becoming Microsoft of the 90s.

And that's the thing, this OS shouldn't be "complex", you should be able to navigate your way around as a novice and figure everything out.

There's a difference between software complexity and complexity to the user. Making it easy and simple for the user often means that the software (the code) is very complex.

Yet another reason why a remote server, not your device, is supposed to render the link previews. Automatically visiting websites sent by anyone is always a bad idea. Even if there are no browser vulnerabilities (which there always are), someone can use the website hit for all sorts of tracking purposes. I can't believe they've done this.

I hope the person that posted the link to Github faces consequences of that action.
Consequences = $$$ bug bounty payment?

Sometimes websites will have a popup saying your device is hacked and it locks up Safari on iOS. I think it uses javascript and even ad blockers don't stop it. They need to fix that. It's pretty rare that it happens, but it's still really annoying. I wish ad networks would stop these sorts of ads from seeping through, but it's fairly clear that they don't care about users.
There's an ad blocker that clicks every ad it sees, both as a giant "**** you" to advertisers and a way to throw off their tracking. Maybe we should use that, but only on certain repeat offender sites like AdFly.

…but Apple has decided that Today at Apple is more critical to the long term success of the company than maintaining its formerly legendary attention to detail and customer service.

That's your interpretation, not a fact.

Holy crap that is amazing. Do you know the name of it? I might install that in one of my browsers at work and spam it during lunch.

AdNauseam. Google has not only banned it from their extensions store but applied a patch to Chrome to block it, calling it "malware" (even though it's not). And there's no Safari version. So the only real option is Firefox. But I feel like it's a great way to get on IP address blacklists, which I have been on before due to my accidentally suspicious looking web scraper.

Safari in iOS 10.3 addresses that. Haven’t had it happen since that update.

They're always finding new ways around it. JavaScript is pretty awful and I wish that better methods had been invented for the web. I assure you I'm on iOS 11. I have an iPhone X.
