I will cut Apple some slack for trying to build privacy into it better, but it's kind of frustrating considering I can do AI stuff through Gemini on the Google app on my iPhone right now. I could even remove stuff from my pictures if I used Google Photos.

That's not to say I will, because honestly I don't want to use Google services anymore than I already do, but it would have been neat if Apple would have found a way to implement at least some of the AI features on most devices.

I have a 15 Pro so I'm still somewhat covered, but my wife has a 15 that will lose out entirely and that's a major bummer. There was always. Feature or two that dropped, but I don't believe for a second that it wasn't apparent to Apple a year ago that the RAM and/or SoC in the 15 wasn't going to be enough and they built the device anyway. Slightly undermines my belief that iPhones are more future proof than other devices.

Edit: Plus, I'm not sure yet which AI features I'll actually use, but I've been wanting Apple's version of Google'a magic eraser ever since Google introduced it on the Pixel 6 all those years ago. Now they roll it out with 18.1 and it still doesn't work because it doesn't work with the phone set to British English. Photo editing. The whole role out is a joke.

cleanup is on my devices in the UK but it’s buggy at the moment

Did it work out of the box or did you have to change your language region to US English. If not I may have misunderstood!
Haven’t changed anything, just downloaded the cleanup tools 😃

Just checked my wife’s iPad Pro which never had the beta and it’s the same - go into edit mode within photos and cleanup is there.

It leaves far too many artefacts for my liking but it’s there 😀

So what's the deal with us UK residents not getting any of the new 18.1 / 15.1 stuff?

EDIT: OK, so a mod moved my post to this discussion, but didn't move the answer that somebody kindly provided. Doesn't make sense? Anyway, the answer was that the UK will get the same new stuff as the US received yesterday in 18.2, presumably along with the full Apple Intelligence delivery...?

ChatGPT works on the 18.2 beta now. I have a paid account, but works just fine without one.

Still waiting on the Image Playground features. I downloaded the day it launched, but apparently Apple is slow walking the rollout.
As long as we get the other stuff during the beta, that's ok. Otherwise, I see no reason to do betas if they leave the actual features out until full launch. lol.

Update: I'm in! I've been using the Image Playground (Not so great) and the Genmoji (Actually pretty good)

Has it come out for you yet? I'm able to do Image Playground and Genmoji now.

We had a tall guy at work have surgery on his leg and was unable to drive to work, so I told him this is how I pictured him getting rides from people. It's buggy, but you can make some funny stuff.

Look, given what happened with Google's botched Gemini AI rollout, Apple wants to make sure each major feature of Apple Intelligence rolls out reasonably smoothly. Even more so when non-English versions roll out early in 2025.

AI
"90% marketing."

Oops.

These guys couldn’t be more wrong. AI has already been here doing its thing in the background without the user knowing. AI is only going to continue to improve and that is what we’re seeing now. It’s not going anywhere.

I don't believe they said it's not going anywhere.
Rereading the articles they say it's being massively overhyped.
Two different things.

My reply is still the same, you might have misunderstood what I said. They are wrong, AI has been here and it’s going to continue to improve, it is not a hype.

cool. Can we get multiple user spaces? Would be nice to have completely separate spaces. Thank you.
