Used to be excited for WWDC years ago. Now it's become kinda scripted and mostly uninteresting with miniscule changes. "You can move your icons on the homescreen" Yay!

I watched Microsoft's Copilot+PC introduction (from May 20) last night, and they were not shy about comparing against the MacBook Air M3 as a benchmark.

With the hardware and software being cranked out by competitors lately, Apple sure has their work cut out for them to maintain their place.

Much of the Microsoft presentation was lacking actual technical details. Felt much like a desperate sales pitch at time. I hope that Apple doesn't fall further into that trap. Give us the juicy goods!

They Keynote is neat and all, but the one that excites me every year is the Platform State of the Union. That’s where you can get a real feel for what Apple is aiming at holistically across the company.

Apple should really consider letting the iPad run macOS. Let it turn in to an mac mini, especially when connected to a monitor, let me dual boot either iPadOS or macOS.

Or if not, then please Apple, strongly consider revamping the UI and evolve beyond stage manager. Bring a free form window manager to iPadOS. Add the traffic lights and menu bar. Give us simultaenous audio streams. Build a better files app that can format partitions and unmount media safely.

The hardware is beautiful I love my m4 iPad Pro. Keyboard is nice. Stage manager is 'ok' but the iPad can be so much more. So I will be looking with intense interest on whether Apple adds a "groundbreaking" window manager to iPadOS 18, especially on the M-series family of Ipads. Or if it, as always, lets us down with something half-baked. Let's go!

Hopefully the Canada back to school promotion starts that day too. I’m itching to get that OLED iPad Pro.
Back to school? It's not even over yet!
Apple products are so overpriced, you have to wish for sales months in advance!?

I'm really excited for this year's WWDC! After all the rumors, after the news about what other tech companies are doing, WWDC 2024 has to be incredible

...or the biggest letdown in a very long time. One or the other, I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(seriously Apple, please give people a good Siri at least)
I think Apple needs to get rid of its CEO and become a client focused company again, not the nonsense cash machine that is now...

That really shows how behind Apple is on AI. At only 11 AI per hour, they’ll never catch up.

Yes, by 12 noon I will have made 18 posts about how mad I am that we still can’t remove the awful homebar.
Yes this!! Apple please give us at least the option to toggle it off. Once you learn how to use the iPhone like after 1 week, I don’t think anyone would really need it anymore.
Also give us the option to toggle off the iOS dock surrounding. We can keep the icons there, but who needs the space around it to identify that it’s the dock?
And 1 more thing; Apple please fix the Mail app reply to bug. Every new email I get when I open it up. It automatically has the reply to from the previous email that’s in my inbox.

Apple today shared details on the schedule that it has prepared for the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference, which is set to take place from June 10 to June 14.

wwdc-2024-main-image-feature.jpg

While WWDC always includes a keynote, Apple has confirmed that it will be held on June 10 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Apple is expected to announce iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, tvOS 18, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2, and at this time, we have not heard rumors of hardware.

Apple will follow the keynote with the Platforms State of the Union, and the Apple Design Awards are typically also held on the same day.
  • 10:00 a.m. PDT - Apple Keynote, which provides a first look at "groundbreaking updates" coming to Apple platforms later in the year.
  • 1:00 p.m. PDT - Platforms State of the Union, which will take a deeper dive into the latest advances across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS, and new tools that will further empower Apple developers.
The keynote event will be available to stream on Apple's website, the Apple Developer App, the Apple TV app, and YouTube. The Platforms State of the Union will be available on the Apple Developer app and the Apple Developer website.

A select number of developers have been invited to a viewing party at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, and they will be able to watch the keynote and the Platforms State of the Union in person.

Throughout WWDC week, Apple is hosting online labs and consultations for developers to get advice on implementing the new features that Apple plans to announce at WWDC, plus there will be more than 100 technical sessions from Apple engineers, designers, and other experts.

Apple recommends that developers download the Apple Developer app to keep up with the WWDC announcements.

It's a long shot this year but hoping for some hardware (Mini/Studio) updates ... (for customers/clients)

Yeah, Google talked about Ai for 150+ minutes then delivered crap like this -

Adding glue to pizza
Eating rocks
A 2022 remake of 2001: A Space Odyssey, directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by George Lucas.

Yeah, Apple's soooooo behind

It's yet to be shown in any definitive way that Ai isn't the next NFT, so.. I could care less? I think the only people who do care are shareholders who have been brainwashed into thinking Ai is the only path to growth in the tech industry?

As long as Apple keeps doing things with Ai that actually matter (better on-device text/photo/speech recognition, improvements to Siri (also on device), etc) I'll be happy on the Ai front. Everything else is noise.
