The i moniker generally signifies heavily consumer oriented products, plus rebranding OSX under iOS would make referring to full" and mobile versions pretty clunky. They would probably need to extend something like the pro moniker into it as well, to identify OSX based operating systems.
I mean, can you imagine referring to the next OSX as iOS Pro? ugh
Oh well, in any case Apples foray into the consumer environment has given them a LOT more financial success than the professional market. So I guess
