For a second I thought that was “au” as in “au lait”, rather than Australia.

How do you take your data, monsieur? Au Starlink.

then explain opening up superchargers to non-Tesla owners (which was the single number one reason a lot of people refused to buy a non-Tesla).

you can't really argue "well, Tesla profits more off of charging for Supercharger use" when Tesla would have made more money selling the car AND selling Supercharger service.
Which part of I don’t like Elon Musk do you not understand? I’m not interested in any of his products.

I wonder what the Apple markup cost to it's customers will be to allow for carrier satellite coverage.

My prediction is that it will not be cheap :).

My only reference is the t-mobile support, but I haven’t noticed a difference between the starlink connection and the service included with iPhones for “free”.

You mean providing life saving measures in time of crisis and needs.

You can choose not to use it when you are stranded. But at least you have a choice.

iPhones do come with satellite emergency service now.

Although it’s a little moot at the moment (Almost everyone has a cell subscription)… I think if I had to choose between a service included with the phone, versus requiring a cell subscription to access a satellite service, I would go with the standalone. The service paired with cellular isn’t good enough and I think if cellular felt a threat from a satellite subscription it could drive innovation (and/or drive cell providers out of business).

It reminds me of the peer-to-peer networking Apple was promoting a few years ago, it could have been a big threat to internet providers. But that’s a different discussion.

I mean the satellites do literally have frickin' laser beams...

(Hopefully people still understand this reference.)
