Apple is now all over the place.
If they cannot put their Bs together and swing the hammer around, they will probably be stretched thin and lose focus in the following years.
This transition to face id is the proof.
There is no direction at Apple. Cook needs to walk away simple as that
Didn't know we had insiders from Apple who know their financials as well as future plans.

Smh

LOL! I will bet on Apple and their marketing strategy anyway.

It is amazing how many here think they know better. Put a notch on the phone and red dot on the watch and Apple is going out of business!

They will be America first TRILLION dollar corporation in 2018. Must be doing something right!

Yes, and Make America Great Again!

Kind of like when Apple defended their 4 inch screen saying it was "the perfect size" and then came out with the 5, and eventually the 6+

What other Apple Products have edge to edge screens, facial recognition to unlock, etc?
Perhaps you should read into what the OP is talking about before posting.

I did read it.

Easy to forget that about that same time the media was saying Apple was doomed™ unless it released an iPhone mini / nano (about the the iPhone 3g / 3gs)

Yeah, he just runs one of the most successful companies in world history. But let's get rid of him.

But is it successful because new people are joining the apple ecosystem due to excellent new hardware, or is it because everyone who is already in the ecosystem cannot easily leave so they continue to buy new and expensive products because they're accustomed to it. I feel like its the latter. Not to mention that old products aren't discounted if they are the "newest model". Apple nickel and dimes us dedicated users, and then only marginally improves products each year and wants the same or more $ for them, thats why they have a pile of cash.

I'm not going to get into your first point but your 2nd point is just wrong. If & When Apple leaves a previous model on the store with the introduction of a new product cycle the old version normally gets a discount.

Thats why I said being old but also being the "newest model". For example the Mac mini and Mac Pro are the same price YEARS after they came out. They are old tech, but are also the current/newest model. They should not be the same price now as they were in 2014.

So you are telling me that I'm going to buy the iPhone X not because I want one, but because I feel I have no choice? Hmm.

You can want one but also not have a choice. You gonna buy an LG to watch the hundreds of iTunes movies you've purchased over the years? That Note8 gonna have your iCloud Music Library full of CDs you uploaded? Nah, you're not gonna buy something else.

I have Spotify and I don't own any iTunes movies. One thing is for certain though, I would never buy anything from LG.

Folks on this forum are great at explaining your own private motivations to you. :D

I didn't claim to explain everyones personal motivation. I said if you're invested in the ecosystem you're less likely to leave because a new product isn't as great as you hoped, it's perfectly fine but not bad enough to give up on your investment. I think a hardware product would need to be pretty spectacular, or a massive disaster to get someone to switch allegiances.

Apple's ecosystem is one of it's greatest advantages. There is no doubt about that. If you already have 100s os songs, movies, apps, or books you're more likely to continue using Apple products. This is what sets the optimists away from the pessimists. Where someone like you may see this as a hindrance, others see it as an advantage. Personally, I prefer the seamless integration of hardware software & services. (including Apples exceptional technical support) Further, I prefer that my Apps music and movies are all easily accessible though that ecosystem to my many other Apple devices.

Are there other ways to accomplish this? Sure! Are the as easy to set up? That is debatable. I have reached a point in my life where the time isn't worth any added benefit and as a professional iIcan afford the premium thats attached to the ecosystem. I can see how more motivated, or more frugal people may not see it the same way. But different strokes for different strokes, right?

Or, you know. People and the market changes demand. Just because you had an idea a year ago doesn't mean you still subscribe to it. That's stupid to assume and use to criticize anybody.
