Only because Samsung and Fitbit haven't produced anything that compares to the Apple Watch. They're playing catch up.

“Only because”? Having the better product is everything in the business, what else there is? You can compete on price, but you still a solid if inferior product to do so. You statement reads like “Apple is only successful because they are the only one that have developed a great product that smokes the competition for this market”.

Had NO idea that the Numbers are so low Across the Board !

Esp. for AAPL with their next update, #6, out soon !

They may have taken market share away from others, but it doesn't look like much of a market to pursue !

AAPL may simply be in the smartwatch market for the Hype benefit !

Low numbers? 30 millions last year, and probably 35-40 millions in 2020 are not low numbers. Sales of a product needs to judged on the product market, not in some meaningless comparison with totally different products. Everyone basically *needs* a smartphone these days, so obviously iPhone numbers will always be way higher; this doesn’t mean 30 millions are a low number for a way less necessary product, that right now is mostly directed to people interested in health and fitness tracking, plus a nice to have “read notifications and do light rapid tasks without the need to take your phone out of your pocket” use case.

Maybe in a few years a smart watch/glasses combo will be able to totally replace the need for a smartphone and sale volumes will change drastically (and iPhone sales will start decreasing like iPods did when the iPhone was introduced), but right now the watch it’s a big success sales wise.

I'm not saying it to be critical of Apple, Samsung or Fitbit (Google I think). I'm just saying it as a fact. The Apple Watch is just in a class by itself. While that can be a good thing it also can be a bad thing. It could cause Apple not to put as much effort into upgrading the AW since there is no pressure to do so.

Not gonna lie, I'm extremely satisfied with my current Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra + Samsung Watch Active2 combo.
