Doe s anyone knows statistic for tablets? How many active devices are in use and how many of them are iPads.
In iPhones it is knows. 1 B out os 3.8 B smartphones. It is noce 26 % share.

I would think that Amazon would find a way to make their tablets available in every country possible, taking the second position behind Apple.
I doubt that Amazon is anywhere near being in position right behind Apple even if they did spread out. I've never seen anyone with an Amazon tablet. I work in a corporate environment and iPads are used exclusively. The same with banks and hospitals.

It is my main home machine. iPadOS constraints still hold it back though. All Apple really needs to do is properly implement a file management system, multitasking, print services, multiuser accounts and tweak cut and paste, and it is pretty close.
land a second port
They do it's called MacOS and it runs on Macs.

I also gave one to grandpa and he uses it as a denture tray. He likes his Android tablet better since unlike the iPad he can place often used icons anywhere on the home screen instead of throw everything at the wall left to right approach with iPadOS, is uninterrupted with YouTube Vanced, doesn't like finger gymnastics gestures, etc.

For me, can't even put a basic active SSH session in the background without it dying that a $10 Raspberry Pi Zero W can do. It's not for tech savvy people either.
You don't seem to be very tech savvy either if you don't even know the basics of an iPad.
And because SSH sessions are what normal people do with their tablets...

Love the new Mac Mini but the iPad Pro is still by far my favorite computer I have ever owned. I can see the iPad Pro continuing to get more powerful with more pro apps and becoming “THE“ Apple computer for most people. It already is in my book.

IMO, the 2020 iPad Air 4 is 2nd-Highest Value product that AAPL currently offers.

With the 2019 iPhone 11 being the Highest Value (i.e., #1).

This year's 12 Pro is probably @ #3.

If/when AAPL offers a Premium MacBook Air (with a new design) later this year, it will cut into iPad sales, perhaps significantly.

I don’t see iPads being affected. From the numbers MR showed these days iPads outsell Macs at least 2:1 if not 3:1.

If that was the case, why are 70% of tablets sold not made by Apple?

It seems several manufacturers have better annual growth than Apple?

I concede however, the iPad offers the best overall package in the tablet space.
The report is incomplete. Some tablets, like some Kindles, are practically given away and can be purchased for $30.

If they compared the $300 plus price range tablets, I’d bet Apple did have close to 70%, if not more, of that specific market share.

I mean 60% of sales were still for non-Apple tablets. I wouldn't say that no one cares. I will say that in just my personal experience, if someone is serious about a tablet, they always get an iPad. If it is a "cheap" purchase for off hand use, then my circle of people I know often go for a non-Apple device. Example is a friend's daughter getting a device for college, it was an iPad. My other friend getting his 7yr old a tablet, it was an Android.
Since nowadays all android phones are enormous, there is less incentive to have a tablet too, since last time I've checked android tablet don't really have extra feature besides the bigger screen size.

That second chart seems a little apples and oranges. Sorry, I didn't even realize that until I wrote it, but when your total PC shipments includes tablets, then Apple looks like they're selling almost as many macs as Lenovo is selling pcs. 19.2M of Apples 26M computers in that category are tablets though. It's wild what data fan sites choose to share, uncritically, sometimes

Shelfware and POS systems?
Rather a silly comment given the numbers shown are sales and so not on shelves...Samsung sell premium, arguably higher spec tablets than iPads. Not sure the MS Surface is classed as a tablet in the numbers, but again hardly a POS?

It's not a silly comment at all. I know I have a few android tablets in a box somewhere. And all the delivery services provide android tablets to their restaurants and stores because they're cheap. POS = point of sale, not Piece of Sh&t.

Serious question. Why would one buy a Samsung Tablet?
I think the Samsung tab hardware, except for power, is very good, for much cheaper than an iPad. That is about it though. It is much more limited for tablet specific software. Consumption device it’s very good, if you want to do work on a tablet as well it has to be ipad.

Serious answer:

For a juvenile/high school student, they might like it, for simple games or videos, things of that nature. But for serious work, as in productivity, For professional means, there’s no comparison to the iPad. Everybody knows that.

iPad and Macs should be reported together. For the majority, they are used in the same way (office work, web, email, social media, some photo editing etc).

For the often arrogant (sorry you asked for it) Mac user who uses "professional" and "real work" in their sentences: productivity comes in many forms. The Macs are inferior to iPads in a number of situations just like the Mac is superior to iPad in a number of other situations.

iPads are used professionally in situations when interactions with humans (teaching any kind of meeting), artistic (freehand sketching) or portability (pilots, field work etc) is required. Everybody should know that.

Can the iPad do every thing. Certainly not, but neither can the Mac. If you can live without one of the device, fine, but that has nothing to do with professionalism.

What do you think happen when the millions of iPad "the juvenile" users growth up? As my daughters says, "he is old fashioned, he uses a Mac/PC" :).

Samsung Galaxy tablets are shelfware. Higher specced? In the age of A12? And Amazon Fire tablets are POS’. I own both.

Good for Apple. Their iPad lineup is great and covers basically all price points.
The only thing I can think of is that the even though the mini won't sell that well because phones have gotten bigger over the years, it deserves as update this year just to have a perfect iPad lineup.

And it’s really unfortunate, because I do think Galaxy Tablets look really nice on paper, and even their displays are really good, it’s just a shame that the overall performance is lackluster with the well known bloatware.

Also, your other point you made about the Amazon fire tablets. I remember when those launched, and the [marketing and price] was unbeatable at the time, and I purchased one from Target years ago just to see what this was all about. And let me tell you, the construction was actually solid for being plastic, the displays were OK at best, but the performance was so bad, I returned it that same night. And I think that’s ultimately the reputation Amazon fire tablets had, was for the money, they were semi-decent experience, but it just was one of the worst experiences in terms of unstable OS, software updates were tedious and sparse, and horribly managed for UI navigation.

I didn't say right behind Apple.

They should be in front of Samsung, if they put the effort into it but they'd have to be worldwide.
