Apple could offer at least six different iPhone models in 2027, according to a proven leaker on Weibo.

According to a post from the leaker known as "Instant Digital," there may be at least six new iPhone models to choose from in 2027. From the unveiling of the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e in the first half of 2027 until the fall announcement of the first iPhone 19 models, the lineup could look like this:

2026 Models Still on Sale

  • iPhone 18 Air
  • iPhone 18 Pro
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max
  • Foldable iPhone (first-generation)

New in 2027
  • iPhone 18e
  • iPhone 18

Earlier this year, Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Apple plans to split new iPhone lineups between two launch windows annually. The iPhone 18 Pro models and the first foldable iPhone will arrive in the second half of 2026, while the standard iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18e will follow in the first half of 2027.

Apple is also highly likely to keep some other, older iPhone models on sale. Today, it still offers the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus alongside the five iPhone 16 models. Until February, it also still sold the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. As a result, this year's iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will probably stick around in 2027, meaning that there could be the biggest ever variety of new iPhone models available from Apple at a single time.

This is ridiculous. What ever happened to the four box method?
The market is too saturated and there are too many different consumer preferences for them to stick to that while they’re in good financial health. The foldable shouldn’t be considered with the others at all, it’s practically a different product category, and they’ve been doing the three tiers of standard-air-pro for years and years, this is nothing new

But no successor to the Mini.

They need an iPhone Svelte, small, less than 100grams, 2 day battery life etc etc, all possible with present day technology but Apple is too lazy ... it would only sell 10-20 million phones, not enough for greedy Apple to make their 40% margins.

Not sure the mid year refresh of a "lesser" iphone is going to be a big seller like apple thinks. Maybe that is their point to get rid of the non pro line and only have the "e" model for the low end to try and boost the pro line/fold sales.

I think its a good idea to split the line, the more premium in late 2027, while the general iPhone announced earlier, possibly around WWDC.

Philosophical query: does a foldable iPhone count as 1 model, half a model, or 2 models simultaneously?
1 model in a different product category all together imo

By that measure, the regular and the mini weren’t really different models too.
They weren’t, really. It was the base iPhone in a smaller screen size, the same as the difference between a 13 and 15 inch Macbook Air, which I wouldn’t consider different models. The specs and features were otherwise identical.

Apple just adds names like Mini and Plus and Max for marketing purposes, because the screens are too small to use the number in inches as part of the name like they do with iPad and Macbook

Until the foldable phone has better screens and cameras, or at least the same quality as the Pro Max with other added features, I can see no reason for me to want to pay almost twice as much for it.

If they weren’t substantially different, their sales numbers wouldn’t have differed so much.
