In addition to new features like a squeeze gesture, gyroscope, and Find My support, it turns out that the Apple Pencil Pro has a fun packaging twist.

As noted by Arun Maini and Nikias Molina, Apple has created five different box designs for the Apple Pencil Pro, each with the word "Pro" in a unique style. When you buy an Apple Pencil Pro, you will receive one of the five boxes at random.

Key new features of the Apple Pencil Pro include the ability to squeeze the accessory to bring up a tool palette, a gyroscope that allows users to roll the Apple Pencil Pro for precise control of shaped pen and brush tools, haptic feedback for certain actions, and the ability to find the Apple Pencil in the Find My app if it is misplaced.

Priced at $129, the Apple Pencil Pro is only compatible with the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models announced this week. The first-generation Apple Pencil, second-generation Apple Pencil, and lower-cost Apple Pencil with a USB-C port all remain available, making the Apple Pencil lineup more complex than ever for the time being.

You can order the Apple Pencil Pro now, and it launches May 15.

Frustrated that the new pencil won’t work with the m2 iPad. I’m more than sure there would have been a way to allow this.

For me this demonstrates that Apple has lost its way big time. I'm not interested in a colourful box for a pencil, not interested in stickers not being put in the new iPad Pro box, or the latest emoji.

I'm interested in equipment that does a job of work effectively and encourages productivity over its rivals. I can't lease out pencil boxes! Customers want reliable OS's and highly productive equipment that is better than what exists elsewhere in the market, and is easier to use, let alone has sufficient RAM on its base configuration to avoid 'early retirement' of the equipment.

This is the new Apple. All fluff. Meanwhile still having major software issues with so many Apple products That they don’t seem to care about or just can’t fix. And god forbid we should get a calculator for these shinny new thinner than ever iPads. Please retire Tim…you are now officially past your sell by date.

Is this to compensate for the fact you need a university degree to figure out which of the four models you need?

I bought my Apple Pencil Pro on October 6th when Amazon had it on sale for $99 - unfortunately for me, only 6 days after I bought it, Amazon made it even cheaper when they had it on sale for $89.99:

This is really cool that Apple has created 5 different designs for the 🍎Pencil Pro box itself. I was not aware of this and I just got my Pencil Pro box out of the drawer and it appears that I was given the box that it in the center (of this displayed photo) pretty neat and I hope that Apple continues to do cool packaging design elements like this going forward🍎👌😎

I’ve got to say, Nikias Molina makes some pretty awesome YouTube videos. I’ve been a subscriber of his on YouTube for a few years now and he definitely makes great content. Here’s a video Nikias made when he got a chance to go to the iPhone 14 event at Apple Park:
