Hey guys,

I took back a defective mac to the apple store and since I bought it online they said they could not give me a new one from the store.

The Genius said he could do a "CRU" and I would get a "brand new mac fresh out of the box" in about 2 weeks.

Just wondering what CRU stands and what the process is.

Thanks!!

Here is what it says under repair status:

???en_US.repair.type.SER??? Status

Customer Replacement Unit.

They order one in to the store for you and you pick it up when it's in.

Same here!

I just lived a similar situation with my macbook pro 17 inch (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/658853/). Apparently the Apple internal return system and store system for replacements are not "linked".

So I have to wait two to three weeks for a replacement, when some were present in the store... Too bad.

Good luck!

hi

I am in the same situation,
my mac broke and from apple they are saying will replace it with POS CRU'd

what pos CRU means?
Customer Returned Unit? Customer Replaceable Unit ? or Customer Refurbished Unit?

tahnks

Point Of Sale Customer Replacement Unit.

Means they're shipping it to the store/service centre for you to pick up from there.
