whats wrong with doing it at the apple store?
I had great experience with the local Apple store in Atlanta. My iMac was taken in for repairs and they realized it would cost too much to repair and they would rather just give me a current generation iMac equivalent to my 3 year old machine.

I've had good experience at the apple store, my wife had an issue with the iPhone, they ran some diagnostics and found an issue and replaced it.

What I do criticize is the long waits to see an apple genius. Gone are the days waltzing in and seeing someone fairly quickly, and in fact making an appointment seems to be stretched out days if not weeks in advanced.

I know what you mean about the long wait time. I went from being in a metro area with access to three Apple stores within 45 minutes to a suburb with one apple store an hour away. And the genius appointments are filled up for at least a week!
