Wow, today was the best day ever!

Basically, I'm currently away on holiday and only have my laptop with me but no Leopard discs or anything.

I tried to install Windows using BootCamp using a Windows XP Pro CD.

For some reason... my whole hard drive was WIPED so I've lost everything.

I went to the local Mac Store where I'm staying and spoke to the Mac Genius.

I thought the worst that's going to happen is that I have to wait 4-5 days when I go home and re-install Leopard using my OWN discs.

Basically... the Mac genius tried to re-install Leopard from an external hard drive, using no discs. That wouldn't work so the Mac Genius asked the Store Manager to open up a BRAND NEW MacBook Pro and take out a Leopard disc from that and use it - Thankfully this worked fine and I'm using Leopard right now.

I was so suprised, they didnt ask me for anything - Just took my laptop and sorted it out within 2 hours, no receipts or anything. Fantastic service!

I spoke to the Store Manager just to point out my opinion that I was so pleased by the level of service that I had received.

Regarding the Leopard disc... I thought he wouldn't be allowed to do that due to some licence key etc....

But everything was sorted within 2 hours.

The Apple Store was the store in Sheffield, England!

AWESOME SERVICE

The Mac Genius was Jonathan who is AWESOME!

Thanks guys!

BLOOMINGDALES FTW!I had no receipt and still got my $260 refund in cash for some diesels I purchased... but anyways your story is pretty normal... That's not exceptional service by any means..

Wandering a bit off topic here but I’m glad there are still establishments that consider after sales service a part of the complete package. Manufacturers too. I’ve had two occurrences where a manufacturer went out of his way to make right the bad mistakes that were made by a retailer. A quote from a representative from one of them: “we will not have our good name and reputation soiled by the behaviour of some retailer”. They were Jura BTW, the makers of fine espresso machines.

It was good service cuz it was england. Try that in the US, they won't open a book for you.
