OK, so for the last two weeks I have been absolutely messed around by apple (unfortunately I can't go into specifics because of the nature of the compensation they offered), causing me untold hassle at almost every stage of my mac pro's delivery. I had been told that they were to offer me a good will gesture and had assumed that it would be considerably insubstantial, but I was in for a surprise. I called today to speak to them about it, and they offered me £210 (~$416). Not apple credit, but money that is to be wired into my account. Just thought I'd share a message of positivity, I'm glad they sorted stuff out for me, and hope that when my mac comes tomorrow morning, it is without issues (touches wood)!
