You mean Apple is as greedy or even more greedy as before? iPhone is still overpriced, especially for 2 years old phone. I can buy first gen Moto X and flash CM 13, still runs better than iPhone 5S and it is significantly cheaper.

Nonsense. Apple is a business, not a charity; it's "greedy" only as much as demand for its products can sustain, like *every* other business in business history.

And strong demand is built with excellent products, services and support.

LOL....You are talking about the company charging 600 for 2 years old phone, still 16GB base storage while other starts at 32GB.

And Apple's strong demand is also party due to its monopolistic business. No body elese can build iOS devices, no body else can build Mac.

Look, I have iPhone 6S, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPod Touch. I have almost all Apple products. If you ever goes out and see competitors product, you know iPhone is massively overpriced. Take example of OnePlus, Moto X Pure or LG G4.

Canada gave us Celine Dion, Justin Bieber, and the worst comments on MacRumors. No punishment for these heinous acts is "unfair"!

Oh, I can see you are such great comments.

I though Apple never compete on price. At least that what I have been told here, oh well, how deep has Apple fallen.

They aren't.

The new price is still a premium price for a smartphone in that country. Any alleged fall-off is likely smaller than a rounding error in Apple's total worldwide profits.

But maybe you can help my company fall really deeply into a few $Billion in free cash flow and profits?

Still to much. Would you guys pay this price for a 3 year old iPhone 5S? Who is Apple trying to fool?

A used 32 GB iPhone 5s in excellent condition is currently going for anywhere between $300 and $350 on eBay and people are buying them everyday. My mom is currently in the market for a 5s because she doesn't want a larger screen.

The new Lumina Windows 10 phones are probably looking pretty attractive in that market right now, for a similar price consumers will be able to purchase something with fresh tech under-the-hood...

Thats the best joke on the thread!!!!

A product isn't overpriced if enough customers are willing to buy enough of the quantity manufactured, and at the offered price in voluntary preference to any competitor's product.

But that is the story here. The older iPhone is massively over price as shown by the 50% discount and the low sales in India. The preference in India is for other phones as shown by the reported fact that iphone isn't even in the top 5 there.

ummmmm.... ok.
So, if you really think those phones are equal to an iPhone, BUY ONE!
Most do not agree with you. That's why they're able to charge more. derp

Apple is hardly a monopoly. I can buy less expensive, arguably equivalent products from a wealth of manufacturers. I happen to prefer Apple products for the integration and cohesive design.

iPhone would have lower costs if Apple would just switch to "free" Android OS. Android handset manufacturers don't have to pay a large team of developers to enhance and maintain the OS. Apple is also in the peculiar position of having a lot of shareholders. I hope that hasn't influenced their focus on the product.

I agree, not same. But better experiences. LOL... I got iPhone 6S on launch day, after about 1 month, it is in my drawer. Rocking on Moto X Pure. It seems for me at least, I can never use iPhone for more than a month. I will always turning back to Android. Just so much more flexibilities.

Apple is not monopoly in the sensr of traditional definition. Apple is monopoly in its own little circle. If you want iOS powered devices, too bad, you can only buy from Apple. Consumers have little choice beside accept Apple's price.

If I want Android phone, I can choose from Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Huawei, Xiaomi and host of other manufactures. If I wanted Windows machine, I can get from Samsung, Lenovo, Acer, Dell, HP and host of other manufacturers. If I want iOS devices, I have to buy from Apple.

Apple also have control over its own products. It is good thing for Apple, becuase they can control it and maximize its profit and improve their products' usability. But it is also up to Apple to decide when to abandoning one devices and when to cripple older devices. When Apple decided to abandon one device, you will never get support from Apple. On Android side, I can still flash CM nightly for latest update.

If I want BMW driving experience, I can only buy BMW.
So many brands have a monopoly in its own little circle. It's called having a USP.

And they cut it to €519 in Europe

Was €499

It's not the same in every country, mostly depending on the included tax.

€499 for 16GB and €549 for 32 GB in Austria (20% VAT) and also Germany (19% VAT). Does anybody know if the price has been increased here too? I can't remember.

Pro Tip: Don't buy one if you think it's overpriced.

I got my iPhone 6S for roughly 1/3 of the price. If I need pay for full price, I would not buy it. I would rather get Moto X and OnePlus Two for that price.

Okay, we get it. You like Android phones. Next you're going to tell us you're vegan, and then you're going to tell us again in case we weren't listening the first time.

Starting to unload stock in anticipation of the new 4 inch phone being announced in a few months.
