Demo Versions Available of Apps on Mac App Store???

I wonder if there will be the ability to download trial or demo versions of software available from the new Mac App Store?

I don't mind dropping 99 cents on an iPhone app only to delete it after a few uses, but I'm certainly not going to spent serious money on an app for my Mac without having the ability to download a trial or demo version.

If you call yourself from your Mac to your iPhone/iPod Touch to check out Facetime make sure that you don't have both microphones and both speakers on ... /feedbackcity

I just tested it to call a friend and submitted some feedback

- Ability to toogle the camera off when you want to keep the app running and on standby

- Ability to display contact list by last name first

- Ability to search contact list

- Ability to jump to a certain letter in the alphabet

- Ability to remove contacts, I have some things in my address book like say pizza delivery that don't need to clog up my FaceTime list.

All in all it worked well.

I disagree. I really don't care about text-chatting. What does video calling have to do with that?

Should they build face time into Apple Mail because they're both communication toools? Or should it be part of Address Book because they both involve people?

No, it makes more sense as a stand-alone app.

iChat does video / audio chats too.

You don’t have to worry about that if you have an iPod touch, because apparently you can’t call yourself. I’m guessing it’s different with a phone number, but if you have iPod touch and FaceTime for Mac both hooked up to the same e-mail address and you try and call yourself, it doesn’t work. What happens is inconsistent. I’ve had one side say it’s busy while the other side keeps ringing but can’t connect, I’ve had them both try and connect and just fail. I’ve had lots of stuff happen, but I haven’t had it work. Lame.

So how is this different from Skype or any of the other video chat apps out there including iChat? It seems to me to just be a simplified version of the same thing with a snappy new name.

this is cool. i see why they didn't use ichat cause its called facetime, not chat or video chat. there's no texting involved. but i'm talking to the fam at home from work and its nice.

Why not just quit the app? You can still receive calls, even when it’s not running.

I wasn't sure how that worked, I assumed with the app off the call might route to my iPhone. I could see myself working at the computer and preferring to recieve calls on the comp than the phone.

It's downloaded real fast, having some trouble with the verification, site seems overloaded!
I think this will be a winner!

Maybe someone can help me out: I haven’t used FaceTime on my iPod before cuz I had no one to call. Now that I’m trying it, can someone help me out? How the hell do you make a call to someone that’s not on your recents list? Every time I tap an e-mail address from my contacts list it opens up an e-mail instead of initiating a call?

so, how does it know the different between devices?
I just tried to facetime my girlfriend, but I get an error that she needs to update her software

so I guess its trying to connect to her macbook

Curious to see if AirPlay will have the ability to push a FaceTime chat to an Apple TV. Apple won't sell cameras to wirelessly attach to Apple TVs and they won't put a camera you can pan and zoom in an Apple TV, but a MacBook, iPhone, Touch, or iPad with camera using Airplay to put the video chat on a big screen will bring video chatting to the living room.

Well, FaceTime on my Mac won't log in, but I'm not discounting the possibility that it's probably being blocked at my office firewall. Will give it a shot from home tonight.

works really well.. i called myself from my mbp to my iphone and then i thought about calling from my iphone to my mpb with facetime app closed on the mpb... it opened the app automatically.. works well!

Nope, the app opens up when someone calls, unless you turn it off in the preferences.

also keep in mind that when someone FTs you, they have to select whether you want to use the email address or your phone #

works only in Snow Leopard?!

lame it only works in Snow Leopard!

it should work with anyone who has iChat.... because i and a lot of people i know didn't want to do Snow Leopard because of the font issues and changes to quicktime.

FaceTime Activation
Unable to verify email because it is already in use.

Huh?
How is my email address used?
I tried using another email of mine and it sends me the verification link.
And there it goes
Safari can’t open the page “https://id.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects..."

Anyone having the same problem?
