Still waiting for my SE to ship. Apple has a massivd manufacturing problem at ghe moment. It takes them bloody ages to get anything done. But thank god we get politically correct emojis. I couldn't be without.

Do you think hardware manufacturing and emoji design are done by the same people?

the 12.9" with keyboard and pencil costs and weighs more than the macbook, which makes it a poor choice imo.
(also ergonomics while using keyboard is far inferior than a proper laptop)

these things should at least cost less to make any logical sense..

No, but it tells you were the priorities are put.
Does it?

So, then, division 1 should hold off on adding new emojis to the beta of an OS due in the fall until after division 2 finishes releasing some entirely unrelated hardware in a specific market? Basically just because someone might incorrectly interpret that it means the company cares more about emojis, when in reality the company is actually comprised of tens of thousands of people and is actually quite capable of working on multiple things at once?

If you assume that ressources across divisions are set up correctly, then of course my statement doesn't make any sense.
However, I'm beginning to question whether even just ressources are allocated correctly. They don't seem to have any Trouble coming up with new watchbands, emojis and redudant software Features in iOS, whilst macOS and their Hardware are not just falling behind, they're becoming antiquated and even EOLed. Now I understand it's more complicated to make a MacPro vs a watchband. But making an international keyboard vs an US-keyboard? Sorry, that's pretty basic stuff.

Well it might sell a couple more in Finland, but it's not even listed in the Finnish site even though the layout is just the same and they've traditionally referred to the layout as the Swedish layout with desktops and laptops. I guess this oversight goes with the sloppiness we've got all too familiar with lately.

It will be updated soon'ish (I hope), I told retail about it this morning. If you want to order it right now, you can call 0800 922 72 and tell them to sell you Swedish one.

Apple today released new international versions of the Smart Keyboard designed for the iPad Pro, which could previously only be purchased with a United States English layout.

As 9to5Mac points out, the Smart Keyboard can be purchased in British English, Norwegian, Czech, Slovak, Swiss, Dutch, Korean, Spanish, Italian, German, Danish, Swedish, French, Arabic and other language layouts when ordering a Smart Keyboard alone or as part of an iPad Pro purchase in different countries.

The new language-specific Smart Keyboards are available starting today through Apple's online store and are priced the same as the U.S. English Smart Keyboard. Retail Apple Stores will also likely start carrying the new Smart Keyboards in the near future.

I like my iPad Pro Smart Keyboard - it is slim, protects the screen, types like a keyboard and impacts insignificantly on iPad Pro's battery charge. It travels with me always as it is more portable than my Apple Magic Keyboard 2. I tried the Surface Pro keyboard cover which feels like pressing on hard cardboard. I wish the British English version was available at initial release of the 24.6 cm Smart Keyboards as I would have purchased that one. I highly recommend you buy this keyboard.

Tim?

Cool, whilst you're here can we talk about this pipeline?

they obviously wanted to see how sales would go before taking any decision. for example, if most people in non US countries bought the ipad pro without keyboard (i'm making assumptions here), then they would need to offer an regional one; if ppl instead bought the US keyboard regardless.. then more money for them, because of less different parts/logistics/etc.

in any case it was a bad decision for the customer and a sign that the company is too conservative (the so called greed of Tim) and not willing to risk anything. at last they offer those keyboards now.

...no trackpad, no use for it.
What? There's a giant trackpad, positioned right above the keyboard. It even lights up and displays information. How could you possibly miss it?

I just figure that in some extremely roundabout way this is payback for having to spend the first few minutes of setting up any new Raspberry Pi, navigating through the steps to switch the keyboard settings, which it has electronically hobbled, from Awkward British English to Proper American English. How do you folks even code without having "#" and "|" in their right and proper places on the keyboard? And regular expressions use "$", not "£".
;)

Yes, well the Pi may just be payback for the so-called "British" Apple keyboard, which is little more than the US keyboard with the "#" replaced by a "£".

"Proper"* British keyboards juggle the punctuation keys more thoroughly to make room for the '£' key and still keep the '#' & '$', and have the double-quote above the 2 as nature intended.

* While I hesitate to anoint PC/Windows as "proper" the PC layout is a bit closer to that of the One True Computer than the abomination that is the Apple British Keyboard.

DAMMIT! I bought the US version thinking they'd never release a UK version just 3 weeks ago! Damn Apple and their 14 day return policy!

If it came from an actual Apple Store (where your odds are better, because you're speaking directly to the company), it might be worth gong in and explaining the situation and asking if they'd be willing to swap it out for you. The worst you can lose is some time, and they like to do things to keep courteous customers happy. (When I took in my iPad Air and said, "I cracked the screen last night, it's totally my fault, but my AppleCare+ ran out a month and a half ago, so what are my options?", they replaced it for the normal AppleCare+ replacement charge.)

I bought a US one from an eBay seller new and sealed a week or so back for a decent discount. However I bought the UK one yesterday as the fact it now existed and I didn't have it, bothered me. I'll be putting my US one up for sale as it's only been used for like 5 minutes.
