I dropped iTunes match after Apple killed the commercial free radio. I see why Apple wanted to kill the commercial free radio but it doesn't change the fact that Apple was selling commercial free radio as part of an iTunes match subscription. At a minimum, Apple should have let the consumer continue with commercial free radio until their subscription was up. It may sound trivial to some, but I expect a company to honor their commitments when I purchase a product. I could now care less how Apple does.

I agree, but knowing what we know now about the new royalty rate proposal, it is no wonder why Apple ended the iTunes Radio.

But you are right, the Match subscribers should of had iTunes Radio until their sub ended.

I have read the story, another feature that Spotify doesn't have.

In which case you don't understand what this story is about. Nothing to do with Spotify. If you are a Apple Music and/or Apple match user, this interests you.

Now they just need to fix iTunes match so that it doesn't **** up my library every time I tried to use it or at least make it easy to reset without p***ing about.

As both an Apple Music and iTunes Match subscriber, it appears iTunes Match has now disappeared from my Subscriptions page, which is awesome news.

Thank you Apple for simplifying and streamlining your services, and at the same time cutting costs for the consumer!

But iTunes Match matching was also crap? So Apple Music was even worse??

I ditched iTunes Match after it started replacing many of instrumentals in my library with original tracks with vocals... (and last time I tried it was in November 2015).

Apple Music. Hot mess.

Hopefully this actually does fix things. iTunes Match, even when it first debuted, was at least pretty accurate for me. (And I'm a DJ that has a lot of custom tracks / mixes). The only problems I noticed consistently was when the runtimes were the same between two different versions / edits. As long as the runtimes were different, iTunes match usually knew it needed to upload.

However, Apple Music / iCloud Music Library has actually been getting WORSE lately. About two months ago, it retroactively changed a few remixes to the normal versions on my phone. Still has the metadata of the remix, but plays the original song. Runtime shows that of the remix. When the song is playing, it's of the original song. Terrible. This means that the local file I had stored on my iPhone, while potentially somewhere on the phone (or maybe it's not), is no longer accessible. Makes no kind of sense.

It's borderline unusable for me at the moment, so hopefully this really does fix at least 99% of the issue it's had.

I have iTunes Match and am a Apple Music subscriber. Actually, I have the Family Plan, sharing in total with 6 family members. I have some music in iTunes cloud that cannot be found in AM. Can I now share all music from the cloud with my family members? Previously it was not possible.

I wonder if this will fix the issue where Apple Music is paused every time the iPhone/iPad loses service.

I'm still waiting for iTunes Match to stop taking my clean versions and matching them with explicit versions. Some of them are commercial edits and others are my own. Sometimes a matched album with be half clean and half explicit. It sure sucks when I'm DJ'ing school and corporate events, as well as driving with the kids in the car.

Does this sound like a good idea, or just redundant? I have Match but not Apple Music. My plan is to:
1) download a copy of every song in my collection to my mac mini server;
2) Cancel iTunes Match / let expire;
3) Subscribe to Apple Music now that I can have a true Family Plan

I don't see that I will miss out on any features I have now.

Just stop. Nobody has to "win". There CAN be competing services, both doing well, you know... personally, I like Apple Music more that Spotify.

I agree, nothing like competition gives the customer choice. I also have tried Spotify and Apple Music, and like your self I preferred it over Spotify. People have criticised the UI of Apple Music, but that was one of the things I preferred over Spotify's UI, which I hated. Really missed the "For You" feature of Apple Music when I tried Spotify out for a month.

This is the reason i have recently switched from iPhone to S7 Edge + a 128Gb micros sd card. I switched to apple all those years ago because it was simple and just worked. It's no longer simple, and it no longer just works. I mean read this article again.....sure 99% of the population just look at it and say WTF does all this crap mean !!! So now as one of the 99% i just store all my music on my phone.

I dare say i will be tempted back when the iPhone 8 comes out but so far i am very glad i switched. I have also switched from photos to google photos (and its much better!!!). I love apple music but i might move to Spotify just to complete the switch....

Yes I think inevitably the plan will be to kill it off and make everyone take Apple Music for Match.

With this switch it will make it very easy for them to keep iTunes Match. Want access to our entire catalog available in Apple Music for $120.00/yr or just your music with iTunes Match for $25.00/yr? Both services will work across all your authorized devices.

iTunes Match and Apple Music have ruined my perfectly put together library. Just the other night I was listing to Maroon 5 (don't judge) but it showed an album cover for a completely different artist. -__-
You don't need iTunes Match or Apple Music for that, iTunes is perfectly capable to do this on its own without having either of those services enabled.
