Guy called up Apple support to confirm if the date slipping was intentional. They apologized and said it was. They’ve been getting reports of this all morning.if he placed that order anytime after the first 15 minutes of preorder, obviously its just a glitch
And here I just ordered a backup VP in case my 2/2 delivery slips....Guy called up Apple support to confirm if the date slipping was intentional. They apologized and said it was. They’ve been getting reports of this all morning.

Im confused with the math? The TOTAL manufacturing line for these displays from Sony can only produce a million a year. At the absolute best that means throughout 2024 only 500,000 of these can be manufactured.
Apple is working with LG and another display manufacturer to tool up, but it’s a bleeding edge technology and it takes time to ramp up and verify QC
2 screens per headset (one per eye) means that 1 million screens can build 500,000 headsets.Im confused with the math?
Gotcha, sorry. I thought you were referring to the front screens.2 screens per headset (one per eye) means that 1 million screens can build 500,000 headsets.
Two displays in each AVP. That means at best the entire supply chain can only manufacture 500K units max this year.Im confused with the math?
Im guessing these delays have to do with all the "bots" placing orders and Apple is giving themselves time to "investigate" the legitimate ones.
My card was charged yesterday and my order is supposedly in the "preparing to ship" phase (and still appears to be), but the delivery date was pushed weeks out to Feb 29-Mar 7. UPS does not have a tracking number for me (yes, I checked MyChoice), and so my order appears to be in limbo. My Apple card charge is still "pending".Question for those whose delivery dates slipped- had you reached "Preparing to ship" phase yet?
I ask because I ordered the night of preorder day and was surprised to get a Feb 2 delivery, so I wouldn't be surprised if mine slips, but so far it has not and it's in "Preparing to ship" mode... just trying to get an idea of whether it could still slip or if it's confirmed on time at this point...
Uh oh - do you think the dates will change back as the launch day comes closer ?My card was charged yesterday and my order is supposedly in the "preparing to ship" phase (and still appears to be), but the delivery date was pushed weeks out to Feb 29-Mar 7. I'm guessing that people with UPS tracking numbers are fine.

For those with actual UPS tracking numbers, I would hope not.Uh oh - do you think the dates will change back as the launch day comes closer ?
Mine has not change - UPS tracking shows delivery still at 2/2.
