In the past I used to have my Macs delivered ( FedEx/Ups) and never had a problem, now there seems to be a tendency for packages to be lost in transit or stolen by drivers.

What’s your take on this? Need advice for future purchase.

Never had an issue... I suppose if it is something that you have experienced, or anticipate having issues with, there are options.

• Have FexEx/UPS hold the item at their hub for you to pick up at your convenience.
• Subscribe to a storefront mailbox rental place that will accept and sign for your packages. Again, you can pick them up at your convenience.
• Have the packages sent to your place of employment.
• Order for delivery to your friendly, neighborhood Apple Store for pick up.

I have been buying tech from Apple for many years, and never encountered an issue with a package to not make it to me and be waiting for me when I got home. I understand the concern to a point, but it's also possible that you are simply "borrowing trouble", as my grandmother used to say.

Don't know "where in the world" you are, but if you live anywhere near a brick n mortar Apple Store, you can order from Apple's web site online, and have it shipped to the Apple Store for pickup.

I placed an online order for a MacBook Pro around 10.30am, had it in my hands at the store a little after 12.45 ...

Another option is the bookstore at a local college or university. They often serve as the institution's Apple Store and will retail products as well as offer students, faculty, staff, and alumni the EDU discount. They will drop ship custom to order models to the store for you to pick up.

I've bought my last few Macs though the university bookstore, it's a bit of a drive to get to the central campus, but there's usually not a line to deal with and a pleasant experience.

I always choose the delivery to a lock box at my nearby shopping centre option or to my local convenience store which handles parcels. Never a problem. Not sure why so many people choose delivery to their house especially when they know they will not be at home.

I once had a Apple screen lost in transport and Apple send another one and all was good, just took a little longer. Never had any issues otherwise.
