In the past I used to have my Macs delivered ( FedEx/Ups) and never had a problem, now there seems to be a tendency for packages to be lost in transit or stolen by drivers.

What’s your take on this? Need advice for future purchase.

Never had an issue... I suppose if it is something that you have experienced, or anticipate having issues with, there are options.

• Have FexEx/UPS hold the item at their hub for you to pick up at your convenience.
• Subscribe to a storefront mailbox rental place that will accept and sign for your packages. Again, you can pick them up at your convenience.
• Have the packages sent to your place of employment.
• Order for delivery to your friendly, neighborhood Apple Store for pick up.

I have been buying tech from Apple for many years, and never encountered an issue with a package to not make it to me and be waiting for me when I got home. I understand the concern to a point, but it's also possible that you are simply "borrowing trouble", as my grandmother used to say.

Don't know "where in the world" you are, but if you live anywhere near a brick n mortar Apple Store, you can order from Apple's web site online, and have it shipped to the Apple Store for pickup.

I placed an online order for a MacBook Pro around 10.30am, had it in my hands at the store a little after 12.45 ...

Another option is the bookstore at a local college or university. They often serve as the institution's Apple Store and will retail products as well as offer students, faculty, staff, and alumni the EDU discount. They will drop ship custom to order models to the store for you to pick up.

I've bought my last few Macs though the university bookstore, it's a bit of a drive to get to the central campus, but there's usually not a line to deal with and a pleasant experience.

I always choose the delivery to a lock box at my nearby shopping centre option or to my local convenience store which handles parcels. Never a problem. Not sure why so many people choose delivery to their house especially when they know they will not be at home.

I once had a Apple screen lost in transport and Apple send another one and all was good, just took a little longer. Never had any issues otherwise.

I've never had such problems. But I constantly hear about such delivery losses. It seems to me that the more parcels you order, the greater the chance that something will get lost.

The wife gets stuff from Amazon about 3 days each week.:rolleyes:

With that said, we have never had a package go missing... maybe we're lucky, or maybe it's just not an issue in our neighborhood.

Apple does offer a number of options, as do the shipping companies... if the Apple kit is not BTO, you can pick it up at a local Apple Store ... you can have it held at the carrier's location for personal pickup, and both UPS and FedEx offer locations for delivery - their storefronts, etc... even the CVS near us can receive our FedEx packages.
