hahahaha and on top of it they will charge 49€ extra for the new 32GB entry model mark my words. Apple is all about those numbers now.

People (like me) need to stop buying Apple for a while to get them off their almighty shiny horse.

Anyone that things that Apple doesn't bully others in the marketplace hasn't been paying attention. Business is business - no matter the PR spin.

Well I know what I would be telling Apple to do if I was a supplier, I would increase prices if they are ordering less. It's how the world works including Apples reality distortion world.

It's going to rocket in price in the UK if the exchange rate doesn't see a big improvement by September.

Haha yeap, just wait for all those Brexit voting Apple fans to complain and moan....

Unfortunately the iPhone won't be the only thing that increases in price.

As ollyw said, the iPhone is going to become very expansive in the UK. I actually expect a price hike very soon to reflect the weak pound. Apple is very quick to act when the exchange rate is in their favour.

Looks like the iPhone 7 is going to be kinda bland from the rumours and be most expansive iPhone ever.

Wonder if TC will be shocked that iPhone sales are weak this time round due to the weak pound and no doubt euro by September .

Sorry brexiters , Apple products are about to get even more expansive .

Sales won't be weak. You said yourself they will be expansive.
Whatever you do, don't read and understand the article and what this truly means.

No, not every company in existence does this. Well done straw man arguments. Airlines vs developing world factory conditions. Totally not comparable. Nice try though.

Completely and totally not comparable. Nice try though.

Please, share the list of those for-profit companies that don't negotiate with its suppliers, shippers, landlords, etc. Heck, I'll even give you credit if you can provide a list of non-profits that don't negotiate and/or seek best deals.

Airlines is not comparable? Do you even know which countries produce most of the world's oil? Not only are you clearly not aware, but worse, you missed the point entirely.

Bullying suppliers around to maintain their ridiculously high margin while releasing an incremental upgrade?

Wow. Just wow. May be I'd understand if they were bringing something innovative to the table and trying to balance price/profit etc. I get wanting to be profitable. But it would be nice to see Apple Cook put half as much effort into actually bringing quality products to the market (looking at you iPhone 7, MacBook, Mac Mini, Apple Watch - and bands) than squeezing out every single penny out of mediocre updates.

Also laugh at the people talking about a price decrease. That will NEVER happen with Apple. Ever. I'm fully expecting a price increase for the 10th anniversary model.

The perception of this company from high innovation to ruthless bean counting is staggering.

I'm also surprised they have already put the prices up as they are currently selling in the UK for $50-$60 lower than the US list price (minus VAT).
Agreed. Normally they act fast , my assumption is that they expect it to fall further and two drops would look bad :)

Judging by your impressive signature, you are going to be hit very hard by brexit. :)

I'm not British ;) so literally out the door in a few years ....

And the poor get poorer.

Tim Cook, thy name is hypocrite. If you really cared about leaving the world a better place, you would take a salary of $1 like Steve Jobs did, and negotiate a fair wage for your suppliers rather than demanding that suppliers with profit margins far lower than yours are squeezed for every dime.

Is this a serious post? Steve jobs $1 salary is negated by the fact he was worth hundreds of millions in stock options

Talk about drinkin the cool aid LMAO

I don't get apple. They make great products but the company stinks from inside to out now. They are demanding nothing of themselves and stockpiling cash at a shocking rate that is just unnecessary. I think apple has already reached the point at which it needs no more extra cash to operate! I mean they are just sitting on money but for what? If it was personal wealth would it be a different matter? I've given my fair share of cash to apple but I can't honestly see why the need it anymore. Sure stock prices might tumble a bit but that money could really do some good for the world rather than sitting there invested in crap and not helping the working classes.

I had a theory (more like a dream) that Apple would streamline its iPhone lineup along with a price cut. They'd stop selling last-year's model so that the lineup would be low end- SE, mid- 7, high end- 7 Plus. The 7 and 7 Plus would both get $100 price cuts. All 3 models would have *relatively* similar specs, with the 7 Plus obviously getting the most features. The SE would be a half-year behind, and come out with a new version every spring instead of fall. They could keep the same body design for 3 years for each model too.

I realize how ridiculous this is, but I feel like it would be ideal for iPhone customers. The current mid-range model seems silly to me because it's a year old, and the low-end model is newer and obviously cheaper. It makes much more sense to me to either save $150 and go for the SE, or spend $100 more and get the flagship model. Axe the last-year model, replace it with the new 4.7 inch model iPhone each year, and drop the price a bit.

A man can dream.

More then likely with the cost of the phones seeming to increase from carriers using uncustomer friendly policies, like killing subsidized phones, Apple wants to lower Tuesday cost of the phone to seem more competitive. With a bunch of cheap Andriod phones coming out that are new it hard for Apple to justify $650 or $750 dollars for a phone. Especially when the iPad's are cheaper, yet bigger.

Subsided phones were a loss for the customer in the long-run, as they would continute paying for the phone, even after their 2-year contract was up.

Apple's prices are not too high, as long as there's people willing to pay for their products. Whether for quality or service or "ecosystem" or whatever you can think of. No one can deny the fact that at Apple they know very well (and better than 99,9 % of us) how to play this game. Just vote with your wallet like everyone does in every part of the world since ...forever.

His cool aid vs your blinders. Take a look at Timmy's net worth, (chart at the very bottom of the page) including how much he has (I'm seeing a "B" for billion) in just Apple stock.

I think he would do just fine earning $1 a year from now until he's fired.

I'm not even debating Tim Cook's salary but just pointing out how stupid this "$1 salary" idea is, you're struggling right now to make a point
