Apple Denies Evidence of Hidden Browser Settings to UK Regulator [Updated]

Also: why has my accepting AirDrop from non-contacts been limited to 10 minutes?

Way not to read the article.... but also want to call out that WHY IS THE DEFAULT BROWSER SETTING IN THE SAFARI SETTINGS AT ALL?
It literally makes no sense there.

The exact same option is also at Settings -> Chrome just like it is in Safari's settings. It's (now) possible to set the default browser from the settings of any browser you have installed on your iPhone.

In that case perhaps the one who gave Apple's response wasn't working at the company when the issue existed. That'd be poor briefing or sloppy background work on Apple's part.

Maybe UK will fine Apple billions for the now fixed issue. I'm sure many anti-Apple people here would see that as fair.
I'd like to think that there's a level of common sense. If you mislead in your answers by mistake that is hopefully forgivable, if you did it on purpose that's completely different. Impossible to know if it's poor internal communication or they were hoping they could get away with fibbing, who knows.

Not sure if this is related, but there have been lots of cases of people getting unwanted nudes via Airdrop - happened on the subway in my city enough the transit police put out a statement about how to change the settings.

Happens on planes too, apparently:

...and it’s illegal and/or a crime not to comply with them.

Haven’t heard much from Timmy about his stance to some Chinese laws they are complying with.

Definitely not because of tw protesters ;)

That justifies setting disabling the option (for non-contacts) by default.
Maybe even in a software update (you know, the same software update that eliminated it).
Not to eliminate the option altogether for people that want to use it (including, yes random “social interaction”).

No, this can be skipped.

There are many articles explainin how...
Yes. You and I can know how to skip this in both Rufus and in a terminal..
The average user does not know how to do this. You know this.

A non-native solution, especially one that is constantly changing due to the W11 image, is not a solution.
I am referring to the OOBE. This should have been obvious.

I get your point.

In the past a standard user had a lot of settings, now the developers decide how a software should work, so there are less options for an average. Right? Wrong? Who knows...

When I was younger every new version was a party... new options, new features... now if a (non critical) software, especially on a mobile, works I prefer not to update... I'm always afraid some settings will be lost...
