Creative persons will ALWAYS say that what they're working on right at that moment is the best work they've ever done.

----------

Did any CEO of any company ever say that the current year was not going to be a big year for the company?

----------

This. He's doing awesome work and deserves all the credit for it - including this well earned knighthood.

True but I hope in June they release something no one has thought of as a possibility yet and blow our minds like a hologram display or Siri comes out of beta and can read our thoughts so we don't have to embarrassingly talk to her in a crowded public space or a foldable OLED iPhone that can roll out into an iPad size or something.

Didn't Tim Cook mention that 2012 was going to be a big year? (can someone verify?)

I'm so excited :D

Nah he said "To be honest guys, this year's gonna be a bit on the dull side. I wouldn't hang about. Sell your shares now."

...of course he'd said it's going to be big.

His last two Keynotes have been underwhelming. You know its bad when Eddy Cue and Bob Mansfield deliver the most riveting performance of the event.

I found this the most interesting quote:

"And what preoccupies us is that sense of care, and what our products will not speak to is a schedule, what our products will not speak to is trying to respond to some corporate or competitive agenda. We’re very genuinely designing the best products that we can for people.”

It's also what I'm finding most obnoxious right now!

Snow Lion

A cross between Leopard and Lion? :p

I bet if Princess Anne asked what was in the pipeline, he would have told her.

Royalty and all...

(Of course after telling her, she had to sign an NDA!!)

:rolleyes::D

HRH (prodding Jony in the ribs with the sword): "Now come on Ive; unless you want to remain a 'Mister' for the rest of your life, you'd better tell me the specs of the new MBPs"

Ive is wearing a shirt with buttons.
Ive is smiling.
2 things Ive hardly ever does. The event must have had a big impact on him personally.

Look here. Ive is the only one not wearing a shirt with buttons and the only one not smiling. But that's one of many examples.

And he does deserve the honour. Congratulations to him.

There is the long pause. “It’s a really tough one. A lot does seem to come back to the fact that what we’re working on now feels like the most important and the best work we’ve done, and so it would be what we’re working on right now, which of course I can’t tell you about.”

For anyone else I'd say this is just marketing BS. But with him, I actually believe it.

Well deserved, Sir Ive.

I find this to be the most interesting quote of the article.

From The Telegraph
"Ive has achieved an awful lot and still has a long career ahead of him. Even so, a knighthood is a good time to take stock. If he was to be remembered for just one of his Apple designs, I ask, which one would he pick?

Well of course. Why would he say anything else? You reckon he'd say "My best work was the iMac G4 released in 2002, everything since then has been ****?"

Though I would consider the iMac G4 to be his best work :D

Jonny was like: "If I tell you, I'm afraid I might have to kill you."

It's pretty clear Ive is one of the greatest designers of our generation.

Congrats Sir Johnny! Can't wait to see his influence in upcoming products!

Anne should've said to him "One wants to know why one can't buy an updated Mac Pro yet. It's been 2 years since you last updated it, Sir Ive, and one wants to buy one (or two).".

Then again, that might be me wanting to update my 2006 Mac Pro so I could have a hidden agenda there... ;-)

Seriously, though, it's a thoroughly deserved award and he looks chuffed to bits to receive it, as well he should. Well done, Sir!

Maybe they are going to do an aluminium G4 with a 27" retina screen! That could be the best work ever.

Congratulations on the Knighthood Jony, well deserved. And the cheesy grin shows you are enjoying receiving it.

Stock answer, was that picture taken with an i Phone?

The Telegraph claims Ive "winced" when asked about the stitched leather, but gave a diplomatic response: "My focus is very much working with the other teams on the product ideas and then developing the hardware and so that's our focus and that's our responsibility. In terms of those elements you're talking about, I'm not really connected to that."

Glad to see we're not the only ones that are wondering what Apple is doing with iCal and Addressbook.

That is not a trivial sword. If someone was holding it to my head and asked, I would talk!

(I hope the new product is a new Mac Pro. I would settle for a Mac SimiPro, in a mid case.)

From the article linked to above:

"Don't like the stitched leather UI on a number of Apple's iOS and Lion applications, like Find My Friends, Maps, and iCal? "

I could not agree more.

If I wanted and 1950's style old school messy paper desk calendar, with tear off pages, as depicted in iCal... I wouldn't be using a brand new MBP.

The new "look" of iCal is but one example of some of Apples very disappointing choices in software "look & feel".

Whoever designed this disgusting looking stuff should be sent off to the Hallmark Greeting Card Company...
