mobileMe = epic fail

I was willing to pay for this. But why should I pay for trash? Even with these updates it's still an epic failure.

Your post might have been worth reading if you explained *why* you think this.

mobile? me

So if MobileMe is supposed to be for mobile devices, why are the applications apple developed for the iPhone / iPT so limited? One of the reasons i bought the iPT was to have the features of MobileMe at my fingertips. Maybe I am not using the software correctly but it seems to me that it should be SIMPLE. And, since apple developed the SDK, why aren't their apps the best? Why should I use a 3rd party mail app just to get a horizontal keyboard?

List of grievances:

to-do lists should sync (in calendar or notes, not convoluted folders in mail)
published web galleries should sync from iphoto
should be able to create and accept invites from calendar
podcast and itunes-U access in the itunes app

If you use it solely for wireless synchronization of calendar, contacts, and bookmarks as I do it works like a charm. I don't use the email. I use Mobile Me on two Mac Pros, an iPhone 3G, and an iPhone 1G without phone service.
Sounds like my set up.
I love MobileMe and for the busy pro, running all OSX and Apple products, it is worth many times the price.

I will be very happy when Apple creates a shared calendar for Family Package.

I really hope that news features come.

For now, the service is ok, I have no problem at all.

Agreed! They should add a Shared Calendar icon and the account master should be able to add or exclude the additional members of the family plan.

Er... Aperture 1.0, Leopard..

Not sure about Aperture 1.0 (never used it) but I have used every Mac OS since 8.6 and I agree we beta tested leopard for apple. I hope that is what you meant? Lately apple is releasing some crappy software that is updated many months later. Tiger from the get go was actually rock solid on my end. Of course I actually did get to beta test that OS:)

Was Tiger more reliable in its first release than Leopard? Really?

;)

Yes compared to the first update to leopard (120mb I think) it was more stable. Thank you for agreeing with me. That update was only 32 mbs. In terms of real difference on a OS that is pretty damn good.
Dude every software that is released is somehwhat buggy but people just want to nitpick the ones that they want to suit their arguments.

I wasn't agreeing with you, but then you know that. If you look at the article it lists at least 31 separate areas of 10.4 that needed to be addressed in the very first update, and this article came out only four days after Tiger was released. Since you say you were a beta tester for Tiger, I guess you must have done a heck of a job there.

I guess, in the world where you judge the importance of an update by volume. Personally I remember comparable bitching about the early versions of Tiger as I do about Leopard, and Tiger wasn't really stable until 10.4.4 or so. For me Leopard has been rock solid from 10.5.2.

I was simply pointing out the facts. Leopard was rushed to release and consequently needed more updating, i.e. more code written=larger update=more problems. I am glad that it is rock solid for you. It has been ok for me other than time machine crashing my computer and all of my ports, but pretty good OS release. I also beta tested VISTA and that thing is a pile of dung. So everything is relative to what you are use to. I always look to apple to be better than the rest and in the past their software was easily the best. Lately I have to disagree. More to the point of this thread. MobileMe is a nightmare. They even admitted this rollout sucked. Many of the complaints mentioned above are from power users of mobileME. They don't just want simple address book sync with their one computer and phone. For the price of 99$ a year you should get more.

Going by your argument we could say Tiger was also rushed to release.

So before it became to painful, I backed up what I could on my macbook, turned OFF the sync there, cleaned iCal, contacts, etc. up on my macbook.
Then turned off sync on my iPhone and removed it. Guess what? Good thing I backed things up, because the bastards wiped all contacts, iCal, bookmarks, etc. from my iPhone. Gee, what swell guys. Just because I don't want to use you lousy fascist service.

Fortunately, after cleanup, I was able to sync ONE-WAY to my iPhone and now am able to have control again!
Thank you for posting this! When I get my new MacBook I want to sync my contacts and calendar events from my iPhone to it, before I cancel my trial account. I would lose my data without this procedure. Thanks again.
