Hey PPC friends,

I've got these Apple Developer Seed CDs from 97, that I was given from another member (I can't remember if they were on here or if it was a FB group). I will be uploading all of these to the garden, and internet archive later today, along with all of the documentation I've just finished scanning.
One of those discs, is "Rhapsody Blue Box". It is totally unopened.. I don't ever plan on trying to sell any of these, I'm too much of a hoarder *ahem* collector to let any of these go anyways. However I'm sort of skeptical if I should open that one or not. What do you guys think?

My best advice is to see if a version exists somewhere else and if so, leave it closed. It's up to you tho :)

If it makes any difference, I have Mac OS X Server 1.2v3 - The last version which works with G4's.. Not sure if it works with Pismo. I may install it.

here we go dug up the SnowBook and Pismo shots :)

I did manage to hack OS X Server 1.2V3 onto my dual USB iBook G3 heh as well as my flower power iMac

I got OS X Server 1.2v3 booting on my Pismo, complete with millions of colours take that Lombard! :D (edit: for those who dont know OS X Server 1.2v3 normally only runs on a very small selection of hardware which does not include the Pismo normally :) )

I'd like to try getting it runnig on my SnowBook just for fun. How did you get it to run? :)

cant quite recall if I install from CD or imaged a premade image to it

but I changed the compatible property at the root of the Open firmware device tree to PowerBook2,1 from PowerBook2,2/4,1 (interestingly the Snowbook lists both)

and it booted right up :)

(the OS X Server 1.2v3 bootloader checks for specific model identifiers rather then more generic machine classes like MacRISC or MacRISC2 or MacRISC3 etc)

Ok, thanks! Would you mind directing me to some info on the OF commands to do this? :)

dev /

" PowerBook2,1" encode-string " MacRISC2" encode-string encode+ " MacRISC" encode-string encode+ " Power Macintosh" encode-string encode+ " compatible" property

and then do .properties to check everything was edited accordingly (you can do a .properties after doing dev / to see the properties before ya edit em)

(this is volatile in that it wont stick around if you reboot, there are ways to make it survive a reboot, but if you make a type you can risk bricking a machine)

Ok, thanks! :D

I look forward to trying this once I get a chance :)
