Just because Apple gives it away (as an incentive to use the Apple platform) doesn’t mean they won’t pay trainers for thier content. That definitely doesn’t help everyone but as was already stated, a personal trainer is much more effective if you’re willing to pay the price and adhere to their scheduling.I have to disagree. As a trainer, it is already hard enough to generate revenue and to offer this for free will further ruin the industry for us. In my own experience, offering training for free or low-cost results in commitment issues on the client's part because they can literally walk away at any time after the trainer has spent time developing programming for said client. It's very frustrating.

I think if they had a stripped-down version with just a library of videos (but not routines) they could offer that for free. Once you start curating routines and programming then a fee should apply for the reasons in my other comment. I'm not convinced that Apple wants to get into the personal/online training business though.
Hopefully it stays free. Kinda tired of all the subscription content.
The app [...] may be named Fit or Fitness
They are easy to close. Just don’t set the goal high. I close mine everyday at work. But those rings. those damn rings. i need to close those damn rings.
Sounds like an ok idea if free.. but why would it need a separate app? Some people enjoy having the apps broken up like that, but I'm very much a fan of apps that unify similar functions. Its the main reason I miss the iPod app on iPhone/iPad.
I have to disagree that Peloton's great experience lies with their hardware. Don't get me wrong, their hardware is excellent. The thing that keeps me going every single day is their community. Both the online user community and their trainers is really what shines. I work out with Peloton every single day, and not always on the bike.
I'd agree to an extent. I am impressed with their Bike quality and am blown away by the software: live leaderboards, personal records, etc. The online user community is fine, but you can't interact with friends within the Bike software or the Peloton software other than a high five. If I could share workouts directly through the app and invite followers to do a ride I just did, that would be next level.
As far as the trainers go, I find the ones I like and tend to stick with them.
For non-bike and tread workouts, do you watch the app while following along? Have you tried Aaptiv? Their verbal based workouts are super easy to follow and phenomenal. I always find it distracting for the people at the gym who are watching their workouts vs listening.
All in all, I find guided workouts to work great for me - especially for the more mundane workouts like cardio and abs.
