$120,000 price point
Wowzers.

The thing about Apple that few people realise is this—the brand is positioned as luxury, yet Apple is a mass market manufacturer. This is incredibly rare in the world of manufacturing. You can have one, but not the other.

Yet everybody can afford Apple stuff, just about. You go into a up market boat club, for example, and the rich people with yachts will have iPhones – but so will the serving and cleaning staff.

Apple's skill is price positioning that maximises profit, while being at the very limit of affordability for the average person.

But $120,000 for a car... If true, that's a whole different approach. An average family can't afford that, even if they push their budget.

My guess is that Apple is creating a whole new paradigm. The Apple Car wouldn't even be a "car", in any traditional sense.

Imagine the utility here – pending regulatory approval, if your kid needs picking up from soccer practice, you could send the car while you stay at home – and have the car drive the kid back. Taxi firms could buy entire fleets of these and never have to pay a driver a dime.

A whole new way of thinking.

Is that worth $120,000? Maybe! But it's still beyond the budget of many families.

If these are the only things Apple doesn’t release I will be shocked. As much as I want everything on the “expected” this, I suspect this unreleased list will be growing by quite a bit as the year progresses.

True, but due to its cheaper nature it’s inconvenient to release one every year.

Oh that is fine. Every other year is plenty for a phone.

It was more this article seemed to suggest that the SE line might have been discontinued all together. But maybe I just misread that and they meant the current SE refresh had been canceled.

The only thing that Apple can make me buy in 2023 are if they release some new/better/good looking speakers. But I don’t expect them to after they removed the HomePod's.

I can’t say that I like HomePod Mini’s. I was on the border to buy a few times 2022, but I think they look….toy-ish, childish, uhm, well, not something I really want in my home. Space grey was only option in that case. But nah, I still have 2 good speaker pairs which I assume have a better bass than the Mini’s and that looks better too. I run them through 2 Airport Expresses - you gotta love them 🥰
It have to be something more interesting from Apple in speaker way if I will buy it.

Glad a 27-inch iMac wasn't in this round-up. Hope to see it and ready to upgrade from my '17 iMac.

Apple didn’t release many products that were expected in 2022, forget products that were not expected.

Shoot! I didn't upgrade my iPad Pro in 2022 and I was hoping Apple would release a new 12.9 to 13-inch iPad in 2023. Last year the iPad Pro upgrade was very minor. It was not a compelling upgrade besides the M2 chip.
I’d guess spring 2024 for the next iPad Pros with M3 and OLED screens. That would be 18 months after the most recent updates. That might be when I upgrade my 2018 11”.

Given that Samsung is pitching a Viewfinity S9 27" display at CES 2023 with the same 5K resolution I was thinking it's entirely possible that same display could be used on a 2023 iMac model. This could be similar to how Apple dropped the Mac Pro trashcan in 2017 only to bring back its successor in 2019.

M2 Mac Mini.

Will never understand why Apple perpetually neglects such a great machine.

It's like Apple glances at the mini once every 4 years and forgets it even exists the rest of the time.

The 2014 Mac mini refresh was a bad joke from the instant it was announced and aged like milk over the 1,475 days till its 2018 refresh.

I can't wait to tell Siri to pick someone up and getting a "here's what I found on the web" response.

I can't wait to tell Siri to pick someone up and getting a "here's what I found on the web" response.

Me: Hey Siri, go and pick up my kid from soccer practice.
Siri: I'm sorry, I can't find any song by Kid Rock called Soccer Practice.
Me: No, you're mistaken. Use the Apple Car to drive to the soccer pitch to get my child.
Siri: Here's what I found on the web for "Soccer pitch to get my child."
Me: Siri, you're stupid.
Siri: Hmmmm...? (Or one of the x100 other sass responses.)

Me: Siri, what charge level is the Apple Car at?
Siri: I'm sorry, I'm not able to tell you that information. You can ask me questions like, "Please play my favourite playlist."
Me: Will the Apple Car have enough power to drive to the store and back?
Siri: Creating a route to the store...
