The Pill also has no Siri integration or anything
For what it’s worth, my pair of Pills have built in microphones and because I have hey siri turned on on my iPhone, I get siri functionality essentially the same as a homepod.

Granted, the microphones are nowhere near as sensitive as the ones in the homepod, but it’s nice to have portable smart speakers

I think Apple needs to figure something out and release a new bluetooth speaker ASAP - one with siri and maybe even wifi capability built in, with the amazing battery life and efficiency of recent apple hardware, it would fly off the shelves like crazy.

Oh, yeah, you're right – speakers can generally use a generic button for Siri or calls. (Not voice-activated, though, right?)

And, yeah, they could certainly do a portable HomePod. As an aside, I also discovered the Insignia Mini Sonic – little, good-looking and half-decent-sounding portable speakers which can form a stereo pair (stereo!). I'm not sure what Apple would have to do to make me replace those, but two of them cost me maybe $25 used and I love the heck out of them for anything that requires portability or a little water resistance. (So, they'd probably have to do a lot.)
