ton of phone companies I never heard of before when I went for work the past 2 years. some of them have insane cameras. I don't think I saw anyone with a Samsung or any Samsung stores at all.

Competition is good !!! Apple wants a insane profit margin on their goods and they can get them because

A.) products are great
B.) Products are cool.
C.) 0 Competition in the US....

think many people dont notice it because of deals some of our carriers here give us but $800-1200 for a phone is insane especially if you have a few people on your plan.

My favorite is T-mobile always tries to get me to change my plan from one that is 7 lines for $120(all phones paid off, 2 free lines) to a plan that is $250-280 but I can get a new iPhone pro every year.

Like na bro I am good.
Yep, no competition is allowed in the US.

Here is a radical idea. Instead of discounting the iPhone, make it more feature rich? Crazy idea right? The blue/green bubble might be a major selling point in the US, but in China it's moot.

Release an iPhone that isn't a rehash of the previous model.
the blue/green bubble is how apple hooks users when they are young and naive.

And fanbois can downvote my opinion for all they like, it doesn't change the truth. I'm not celebrating the 'downfall' but it was easy to see it coming when year after year we saw nothing truly innovative.

Classic troll maneuver: insult someone then just claim one is speaking the truth.

Your assertion about "nothing truly innovative" is just silly. You're just repeating something you heard and like it because it insults someone (in this case, Apple.)

I don't get it, why do people buy their device from Apple for RRP even months after release? I get it when (in rare cases, as here in Switzerland) you get the device luckily discounted by 20% at Apple through ways, but I don't get it why people buy that even months after. The best ones are the ones who buy it for RRP a few feeks/months before the new comes out. Just dumb.

Apple's phone dominance is well and truly over except in America. And fanbois can downvote my opinion for all they like, it doesn't change the truth. I'm not celebrating the 'downfall' but it was easy to see it coming when year after year we saw nothing truly innovative.

Apple never dominated any phone market.

iPhones might have had a majority of the sales in 6 to 7 markets around the world the last few years, but Android has dominated world wide sales since around 2010.

Apple has to act very quickly to bring major and really innovative improvements to next generation iPhones
What sort of innovative improvements are you looking for?

I’m one of those who laments the lack of a mini iPhone, but if I really think about I’m not sure what they could do to get me to buy a new one anyway

Just put a new battery in my mini 12 and it now it lasts all day again, and it does everything I need it to do just fine

Well, since I am a middle-aged man, I’d like the chance to use a larger screen than my current iPhone 16 Pro, but definitely I don’t like to have in my pocket a large phone like the PM, thus the reason I went with the 16 Pro.

To me, a innovative improvement would be an iPhone with a large screen and a small footprint. Both features could co-exist only with a flip iPhone, so to me a innovative improvement would be to have that, a flip iPhone.

Trust me that because of the size and form factor I would choose a Mini right away, the problem is that my eyes aren’t healthy as used to be.

Also I really do think that a lot of people (millions) would like to have large screens in a very pocketable phone.

Apple has announced rare direct discounts on its flagship iPhone models and other products in China

If by rare you mean every year, then I agree, Apple gives discounts as promotions going into the Chinese New Year, every year at this time. And it has paid off each year.

Getting a discount when purchasing directly from Apple is great. But the discount amount is too low. Around $70 discount for the flagship model and even less amount for others is not going to increase sales. Also it does not help when the base models of iPhone lack higher display refresh rates.

because there's 100s of companies that make Android phones and only 1 Apple. the iphone still dominates the best selling models of the year.

70 bucks discount? What a joke? Like this will make a difference for people who are paying more then 1000. Do a 200-300 discount. Now that is what I call a discount. 70 is offensive. Anyway, it's china, so I do not care at all.

AVP has nothing to do with phones. And it's flopped, btw.
iPhones are too expensive for a product that fundamentally hasn't changed in nearly a decade.
AVP is not a flop. Commercially, a fail for Apple compared to their other products unit sales numbers. But est 400k in sales of what Apple called “an early adopter” product is a success. Its enough to keep developing future gens that address the many criticisms.

For phones, some customers put much value into the entire ecosystem experience, reliability, access, support and quality etc as they utilize it. Some dont. You seem to be the latter.

Price is in line with other premium devices. The only thing Apple needs to improve is update the SE with tech from this decade. And activate 100 to 120 hz on the non pro versions. The non pro 16 is probavly the best value phone Apple ever made for most people dollar for dollar. I would easily have one over the pro if it had a 120hz screen.

because there's 100s of companies that make Android phones and only 1 Apple.
If--*IF*--Apple licenses iOS to other manufacturers, Apple wouldn't even be in the top 10 iOS phones. Clone makers would eat their lunch.

Android is a competitive market because hundreds are after the same pie. To stand out, manufacturers have to stuff their phones with any wild ass feature they can dream up. Hail, I'm waiting for an Android phone with a 4/3 lenses mount.😁
the iphone still dominates the best selling models of the year.
Not in China.😏

If that happened, then iOS would be the most popular platform and Apple would still be winning. Clone makers would be lining Apple's pockets

Apple fans don't even get preorder bonuses, yet they will wake up early in September to preorder.

I suspect the most likely outcome of China trying to take over Taiwan is the destruction of TSMC-- which will be bad for everyone.

I think China will soon have one or multiple TSMC competitors with better products and lower cost. It won’t be bad for everyone

In what sense and world is AVP truly innovative
You do your research, I’m not doing it for you.
My question is: if you hate Apple and the AVP so much, why are you still here? Don’t you have anything better to do? Unless you are a droid pawn getting paid to plant negativity here.
If you don’t like our grass go back to your garden, forest or whatever you call it. Just don’t fill the forum with negativity because from now own it will be ignored.

You mean the 400k where about 1 out of 3 got returned?

Do you work for Apple or why do you defend AVP? That product is **** (in the current state) and highly overpriced. Period

I don’t work for Apple, I only speak based on personal experience. And I can surely affirm that what you are saying is a narrow minded opinion of the AVP.
The AVP is not a toy so don’t compare it with the Meta Quest (which is sold under cost to attract data-mining victims).
if you are expecting it to be a gaming VR Headset, you are wasting your time. Look somewhere else.
And there are other VR headsets that go for more than $3500, and are not as advanced as the AVP.

Do you work for Apple?

Best “info” you can find online is 1% returns - same as iphone 15 pro. I don't believe that either, seems really low but to claim its 33% on 400k sold is absurd. If that were the case, Apple would have pulled the plug after a quarter. And im no defender of AVP. I would never buy one in its current form at even half the current price. But it will get better in gen2 and gen3 and cheaper. My hunch is that it will eventually develop into a category like the iPhone - with a cheap “SE” version, mid tear one and an expensive Pro version.
