I am British, and do not see the joy in queuing up. Order for Delivery to your own home. Much simpler. No drive home. Its open door, open box, plug in and transfer data. A 4 minute process. And I can play xbox while waiting.

What?! I thought all Brits loved queuing?!

This is fun for some people. If it were about practicality, you'd not be buying the phone in the first place.

People are staying home. What are they even using their phones for that they feel the need to upgrade them? Mine broke for 2 weeks, and I forgot it was even broken.

Although, 5G hotspot is probably faster and more reliable than what I have at home, if there's 5G here, idk.
--I have a few more games I'd like to get through
--My coworkers txt each other about relevant work stuff (along with not so relevant work stuff)
--I use it to call my family and friends

It’s your right if you want to stand up outside for the phone. No need to shame or guilt trip anybody. Every morning and evening there is a long line outside of Trader Joe’s. No one is saying anything. If you follow the rules, wear mask, social distance, you should be fine. Yes, it’s unnecessary in 2020, but not a problem either.

For both the 5s & 6s I got on opening day from Verizon store
I went in afternoon and no line & got my phone no problem

Since then I order online

Sad that after all these months, people are still leaving uninformed comments in these threads. Living in a country that values freedom above all else does not morally justify breaking guidelines put in place to keep others safe in unprecedented (and still not-fully-understood) times.

Just pre-order online and stay safe. For yourself, your family—dare I say, for your country.

Ugh... I’m so frustrated... I would LOVE to just have the phones delivered to me, but AT&T has a bug in their system where it won’t let go of my wife’s former billing address out of state. Years ago (and this happened twice), I triple checked I entered my correct NY shipping address, and AT&T redirected the phones to Michigan. I have no idea why AT&T is even involved in this part of the transaction, but I can’t trust it to be fixed in time...

Buy direct from Apple. Kind of too late advice now, but if you had been early a week ago you might have gotten it tomorrow without being in line.

Someone posted that they ordered a pickup from their physically closed local Apple Store. If that is true you MIGHT be able to call early in the morning and order and pickup tomorrow anyway. I ordered my watch the morning I went in to pick up my phone 3 years ago and I had no problems getting what I wanted, and for an hour or 2 people were still able to ask for a phone (or watch) and get it. No idea if the closest Apple store is allowing pickups here. Right now we are a red state in more than just political leaning.

This should be permanent. Lining up is ridiculous, most people don't have the time for such nonsense.

My wife lined up for the X a few years ago. She didn’t need to she wanted to. Said she had a blast talking to everyone around her and she’s glad she did it at least once. We tend to hold onto our phones until they’re not going to accept the next IOS update. May be a while until a new phone for either of us.

After twelve years, it took a pandemic for Apple to initiate a reservation system. Not everything Covid is bad.
Except their reservation system sucks and wouldn’t allow you to place one for the 23. You could book a reservation for the 22nd on the 19th and then reservations were unavailable for two days. When reservations opened back up on the 22nd, you could only book reservations for the 26th.

They should have an online reservation system for people who want to show up and purchase at the store. I know they already have reservations for online orders, but they should cut down on people lining up.
^ especially those needing to make an in-person trade...

The one looking like a jerk is not the one minding their own business doing what they want in a free country. The one looking like a jerk is the one shaming healthy people for exercising their rights.
If the people are socially distanced and wearing masks I dont see any issue.

So for now, is there no way to just walk into an Apple Store to be able to look at the new iPhones? With so many color options now, I'd like to be able to see them all in person before making a decision. The renders and online reviews/unboxing are informative but nothing beats seeing them with your own eyes.
