Hello everyone. This morning I woke up to a dead apple display. No power, no picture, nothing. I unplugged it and re plugged it back in and still nothing. I also connected it to my laptop and still nothing. Does anybody know how much the apple store will charge me to fix it? Is it going to be worth getting it fixed?

You are aware that Apple made several different Apple displays? Unless it's the 27" model I would say it's not worth it.

Yes it's the 27" model. The led Cinema Display.

To make a recommendation....we need to know the repair estimate. If the estimate is $5....no brainer. If the estimate is north of $250....not so much.

Yeah, I just made an appointment with my local apple store for Wednesday. I will find out then. I read somewhere that it could be the internal power supply, or the cord. I'll find out Wednesday.

Well then I recommend you play it by year then. I definitely want to hear what AppleCare has to say for a randomly dead display.

Yeah me to. I am taking it there Wednesday after work. I am very curious to see what they charge. The display it self still looks brand new. Let's hope it wont be to expensive to get fixed.

If you have to declare it dead, wait for the new product announcements that will hopefully be on Sept 9. With luck Apple will update iMac and Thunderbolt display to higher resolution...maybe 4K.

Even if that does not directly give you a new display for use with Display Port, it would help drive down prices for any new or used Apple displays already on the market. Keep your options open.

Hey, great point. I might just do that. I will keep that in mind. Thanks!

Ok folks. I just took my display to the apple store and the tech hooked it up to a MacBook Pro and nothing. He told me he is going to order a power supply for it and told me it would cost

Item Number Description Price
661-6048 Power Supply, 250W $ 67.05
S1490LL/A Hardware Repair Labor $ 39.00

Total $106.05

Not to bad.
