That is strange that you have had that problem with stuck/dead pixels in Apple displays.

Usually, Apple has either none or only a couple of dead/stuck pixels upon shipping, as they use high quality parts. Of all the Apple products I have bought, I have never had a stuck or dead pixel. I have had two PowerBooks and two iMac G5's.

I have owned several 23" ACD which had no problems what soever not even a stuck pixel. Maybe I am just lucky :p

iSight sounds cool, but including them into the ACD would be difficult since many people don't sit at the same level as their displays. A lot of people mount their displays or have them on a hutch on a desk. Unless they put the iSight on some sort of swivel, the camera would be useless to a lot of people.

as far as a hidef camera? not going to happen....

How is this significantly different from the iMacs with built in iSights though?

This is not true. The iSights are mounted into the displays of the new iMacs (one of which I have) and Apple has done an amazing job of angling the camera so it is at a nearly perfect angle without haveing to adjust the display.

Yeah, this is exactly what I said above - I don't see it being a huge issue whatsoever.

They are coming

I just picked up the 23 HD Cinema for $899 (refreshed) at the Apple Store in South Coast Plaza CA. The prices have dropped and the products have been around for quite awhile now. I took the plunge becase I got it so cheap.

I just got my 23 inch cinema display and it's great. I think the only thing apple will do is maybe adjust sizes and prices. I really don't see them changing the design. The Cinema Display is a pro product, it is meant for work. When I buy a display I want a display, not a camera. We still have the isight and there is nothing wrong with it. If anything they are gonna revamp the isight and maybe make it smaller. One thing I would have liked to have seen is RCA ports on the display, but I also don't see that happening for a while just because it would ruin the design.

I would.

It makes sense. As Apple revamps their computer line, we are seeing iSights and FrontRow being included with their new machines. To follow suit, I see the new displays havnig built-in iSights as well. After all, if all new Macs are having built-in iSights on a go-forward basis, how much sense would it make for every Mac except the PowerMac, the premium luxury Mac if you will, not to have one? You can't build one into the tower, so what option would PowerMac users have to use this? The answer - iSight built into their nice new Apple display.

Why not include a stand-alone iSight with a PowerMac (and maybe Mac mini? Then you wouldn't end up with two cameras if you use two monitors, and you'd be able to point the camera down a bit when it's perched atop a monstrous display.

Ooooh, two iSights with dual displays - stereo video-conferencing, I love it! ;) :D

I think Apple will wait for Conroe and intro new towers and displays together.

But a low-end display is badly needed (1440x900 15"?), so I can see that being added sooner, alongside a new Mini. If so, and if it's different from the larger displays, then it might be a clue to what they will become later in the year.

I'd love an iSight in a Cinema Display. At first I was thinking it won't happen, because it's not such a standard in-demand feature for pro displays. But then I though, neither is TV-in, and other brands of big display (Dell) have that. So why not? The only reason NOT to have an iSight is if it adds a lot of cost. I doubt that it does--and it would bring Apple some sales that would have gone to Dell. (Vertical aim-adjustment would become more important with a really big screen of course.)

Now awaiting my quad-core Conroe Mac with 30" iSight display :)
