So I am planning to get another display hookedup with my 2009 IMAC (no thunderbolt) and was looking at all options. What confuses me is why does the Apple display cost a grand? I understand the new, ones which were just announced have a thunderbolt and some other stuff. But I am mainly talking about the ones before that. Is there something special in it that sets it apart from the other monitors? Is size the main cost factor? Was hoping people here could help me with this.

Thanks

It's a very nice monitor. It's a 27" IPS monitor, which are not cheap. Most similar spec monitors are in the same price range, so it's actually a decent deal. However, I wouldn't buy it due to its lack of connectivity other than MDP, which is almost mac exclusive.

Ahh okay, that makes alot more sense. Didnt know about the IPS thingee. Thanks for the help!!!
