Actually thats not true.

Yes the high wind part is true but your theory of touching power lines is not true at all. The fires in the foothills were due to high winds and camp fires. The fires near the napa and sonoma were by PGE power lines that fell and touched the ground due to high winds. Yes, I have inside information. PGE is already accepting demand packages for those.

Yes downed power lines are implicated in at least some of these fires but before we can say we know how they all started, I think we should wait for the official word, which is probably days if not weeks off. More to the point, what I think people who aren't from this part of the country fail to appreciate is the intense heat, dryness and ferocity of these offshore winds, and the tinder-dry conditions of our hillsides in the late summer and early fall when they occur. Almost any spark can set off brushfires and under these conditions they can develop into massive firestorms in a matter of minutes.

Im hearing it directly from the law offices working on subro. cases which directly comes from the fire investigators. I would say thats pretty official.

No doubt some were, but we are dealing with seven separate fires spread out over hundreds of square miles. The likelihood that they all had the same ignition source seems pretty darned small.

PGE is already wanting to settle, something like 1 billion. Looks like some of it had to do with transformers and down lines. yikes!

Not so. They'd have to be found negligent, which has not come anywhere close to happening yet. The PUC is only beginning the first steps of undertaking an investigation, which has not begun formally. To date PG&E and the telecoms have been notified that they are required to preserve all evidence. That's all.

Congratulations Apple for donating a million dollars from you cash hoard of over 250 billion. In similar news I was just as generous today when I gave my barista at Starbucks 13 cents.

Given what can be done with $0.13 compared to $1,000,000.00, seems like there's a fairly significant difference.

Is it a useful donation?

Sorry, I knew someone would call me ungrateful. This is nothing for them.

Yours is a logical fallacy. The 1 million don't go to a single person, and if that 1 million is a comparable percentage of Apple's net worth to that of the Starbucks tipper, then you can call 1 million stingy.

Happen to know what percent 1,000,000 is of $250,000,000,000?

As far as the usefulness of the donation (as in what actually matters), the fallacy is in comparing some percentage of something to something to make some supposed principled point about something, rather the amount itself which is what actually makes a difference as far as the donation goes.
