Apple don't support TRIM on third-party ssd's

Hi guys as the title say, does that mean i can't use a ssd ?
I've read online that some people can't boot their macbook, because the OS X Yosemite can detect what ssd/hdd is from apple.

You can use an SSD. They are not blocked, just the trim function for garbage collection is.

I run without it, and have for nearly a year.

There might be a hack to enable on Yosemite now, there wasnt for awhile.

Some even speculate trim isnt all thaaat necessary with the internal garbage collection many SSD do themselves.

In the future please use the search facility as this topic has been discussed quite frequently.

Lack of Trim does not mean you cannot use an SSD, you just don't have that option, though there are ways to enable it.
