Following the introduction of both the Retina iPad mini and the iPad Air, Apple has lowered the prices of its refurbished iPads. The entry-level first-generation iPad mini is now priced at $249, down from $279 and $50 less than a new model, priced at $299, with price cuts across the board for all Wi-Fi and Cellular configurations.

Apple’s fourth-generation iPad with Retina display is now available for $379 for the 16 GB version, a total of $120 off the original retail price of $499, and $20 less than the $399 iPad 2. Entry level cellular models are now priced at $409, which is a $170 total savings.

The entry-level iPad 2 is priced at $319 for the Wi-Fi model, which is a 20 percent savings off of the original price of $399.

All of Apple’s refurbished units come equipped with the same one-year warranty that brand-new products carry and have been thoroughly tested for reliability. The units also come with brand-new batteries and outer shells.

Stock fluctuates based on availability, but at the current time, most models and capacities of the fourth-generation iPad, the iPad mini, and the iPad 2 can be purchased.

The iPad mini has 1080p HD recording? What? Since when

On a related note, it's priced close to the Nexus 7...

iPad 2 @ 399 is for suckers. Of course they had to call the iPad 5 the "iPad Air." Could you image if they sold the iPad 5 for 499 next to the 2011 iPad 2 at $399. Bunch of crooks.

I'm just surprised they're still calling it the iPad 2 and not the iPad Classic or something else. They seem to be ditching the numbers, at least on the iPad.

After all the the 3rd generation iPad was known as 'The new iPad' and the 4th iPad was 'iPad with Retina display'. It would be too good of a deal if someone could get an iPad 4 for cheaper than an iPad 2. (Non-refurb that is)

This is heartbreaking for Canadians. I would buy a refurb ipad 4 right now if apple allowed me. The Canadian apple store is a ghost town for iPads :-(

At this point iPad 2 is on the shelf for entrenched groups of units. If you have a classful of iPads with the fancy cart and charging stations those are handy. No to mention the ipad 2 is the last one standing with the Old Dock connector for accessories.

Who cares ッ. My old ipad still works.

The nice thing about keeping iPad 2 and ipad mini on the books is that Devs will be encouraged to keep their programs going. So if you have an iPad 2 from when it was new, there is no rush for a new unit except for a handful of games. You don't HAVE to upgrade till next year. Yea! 2008 MacBook users got spared the "no more updates" axe another year as well. It's a good year for "cheapskate" Apple users.

Yeah same with me. I was planning on buying the retina mini but after the price increase they can stick it. Funny how my refurbed iPad 2 is still considered current with iOS 7.

This makes me think: I should wait for iPad Air refurbs to save myself a few $.

(I was *really* hoping for 32GB to be the entry-level and get a 64GB at around $599. Not surprised with what happened, but I'm not thinking about getting one for Christmas anymore.)

Ordered a refurb 32GB 4th gen this morning.

They were $499 and dropped to $449.

I will be able to still use my (expensive) waterfield case and relegate my 3rd gen to 100% kids use.

I think it took three or four months before the 4th gen refurbs showed up after launch and I cannot wait that long since I sold the kid's 1st gen this month.

----------

If the mini refurbs dropped to $199 I would have ordered one of those as well.
