Question, does anyone know if an Apple employee can let their friend use their employee discount to buy a MBP?

There's two types of discounts, a personal and a freinds and family. Essentially, you could use his personal but he only gets one of those, whereas a friends and family has 3 charges on it a year. The personal discount is better though. Talk to your friend.
I know one of them is (or use to be) 25%. Not sure if its the Friends & Family or personal though.

They get 10% in the store, and can use for their friends too. They get 15% friends and family and are limited to 3 per year, and they get a 25% personal discount for themselves. If they get caught using that for someone else, they can get fired.

Not completely true. You can use other credit cards to purchase with the personal discount. You aren't required to and CAN gift it to somebody. You'd get in trouble if you were caught selling the thing for quick cash.

You can use another credit card, but if your intention is to purchase it for someone else then they will fire you. Specifically told by the HR Manager. As for purchasing it yourself, and giving it to a family member or friend, that is your prerogative. They only allow one per year, so most employees really use that one wisely.

There is a period of time after a new product is released that employee discounts aren't offered.
Not true - At least not with the new MBP's.
The friend and family discount is 17 %.

True in theory, not in practice. Can't tell you how many Macs I bought for 25% off in a year when I worked for Apple, mostly for myself, others for girlfriends or best friends.
Well .. My MBP was bought through my friend at Apple, on the day of the release of the new MBP's.
17 % discount.
Has nobody thought to ask Bryann where they live?
The Americas aren't Apple's only territory. Perhaps... they do it different elsewhere.
