Does this function ever work? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that little button with the “ and the speech bubble light up. I assume that’s what you use to bring up the lyrics?

May depend on the music you're listening to. Was hanging out with my nieces this weekend, and most of the music they were pulling up had the real-time lyrics. Clearly you need to listen to more Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.

Some prices are too high to pay.

Why they don't just get the lyrics from the writers?
Writers don’t always produce them for people.

But also... for all the years of buying music, cds and vinyls; I’ve noticed that artist’s liner notes aren’t entirely 100% accurate either. Often there are words missing, an extra “yeah” or “na na” somewhere that isn’t in the notes. The ad-filled websites that do have lyrics are often wrong also.

Kudos to Apple for doing this.

I listened to 70s music and most of them has lyric. (Can’t say all but all I play til now has lyric, even Layla from Derek & Domino has it 😳)

Spotify got this, then lost it,apple got this, spotify loose again...

Oh my dear spoti, you could be the first, but you don’t want to... very bad

So Apple employees are used to copy and paste lyrics from Google which may or may not be incorrect?

There are many songs in which even automated crawlers can't find the lyrics at all or correctly.
One should be able to report these songs to Apple so that Apple can make targeted improvements.

Often the music labels have simply published other texts than sung.
And this obviously also with Independent Labels...
Example: Can't help Falling in Love (Dead Moon, In the Graveyard).

Thanks, Apple! Good initiative IMO!

As others have commented, I've yet to find a lyric in any song. That includes very mainstream stuff.

I suspect Apple's self harvesting is due to not wanting to pay the music industry for the data. We can have a nice cuppa to discuss if that's a good or bad thing for the music industry.

I was surprised how often I used this feature when Spotify had it (it's gone now.)

They asked Siri to help out but after a few songs they realized she had no idea what they were saying. “Money for nothing and chips for me”

“Livin’ like a lover with a red iPhone”
I’ve always heard it that way.

They can’t hire me for this. I’m notorious for mis-hearing lyrics.

For years I’ve heard a certain section of “Philadelphia Freedom” so horribly horribly wrong.

Is there an example you have of a "very mainstream" musician that doesn't have song lyrics? I listen to selected songs from mainstream artists and have yet to find any without lyrics.

In an interview with WIRED, Apple Music head Oliver Schusser has revealed that Apple has a team of employees listening to songs and transcribing the lyrics to ensure they are accurate for iOS 13's new real-time lyrics feature:With iOS 13's real-time lyrics feature, each verse appears in time with the music so you can follow along as you listen. To jump to a certain verse, just scroll and tap any line. The feature is not available for all songs.

The interview contains a few other notable tidbits from Beats 1 radio host Zane Lowe, including the possibility of the Apple Music Festival returning in the future and "some big new names" who will accompany Ebro Darden, Julie Adenuga, Matt Wilkinson, and himself as Beats 1 hosts in the future.

That's one way of cutting corners and saving money. Would be great if Apple compensated these staff but something tells me they're probably employees being given more to do for the same pay.

Perhaps there's something in my configuration then. Please trust I would not voluntarily disclose I have any Taylor Swift in my music library. (Kidding. she's a talented musician and performer, I'm just not her target demographic.)
