Apple today sent an e-mail to users of its iWork.com beta announcing several enhancements involving document sharing and access to the service from the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
- Share documents on websites and social networks. iWork.com allows you to share a document by creating a public link. Use the link to share your document with large groups or on websites and social networks. There's no need to set a password or send an invitation. Anyone with the public link can view your document but cannot add comments or notes.

- Improved Shared Documents page. Download documents shared on iWork.com without leaving the Shared Documents page. You can also track the number of views your publicly shared documents receive.

- Refined user interface. A redesigned Sign In and Shared Documents page for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch makes it easy to access your documents while on the go. The new interface and improved scrolling help you find your shared documents faster. Visit www.iwork.com from your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch to view your shared documents.
iWork.com, introduced in January 2009, is a Web-based interface for sharing documents and allowing others to comment on them. iWork.com has been free for iWork users while in beta, but Apple has said that it plans to charge a fee for the service once it officially launches at some point in the future.

Cannot log in using my Apple ID and Password

I just tried using my Apple ID and Password to log in at iWork.com. I was not able to login. I've been using the same ID for more than six years - I just bought a new iMac two weeks ago and have been to 2 "One to One" classes at my local Apple Store in Novi, MI.

Has anyone tried using this service? Is it possible I need a different login/password?

Love it!

iWork.com getting some integration love can only mean good things for the Apple ecosystem as a whole, especially for the iPad.

You have to publish a document to iwork.com using iWork before your Apple ID will work.

In Pages, look under the Share menu.

Now if only users could edit the documents rather than just viewing them I might sign up.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is a huge short-coming!

I've been trying to use it for ages. Having a mobile me account isn't enough apparently. I did try signing up for the beta, but it didn't work either...

Apple needs to make this service really cheap, nowhere near $99/year like MobileMe. It needs to be $19/year tops.

Or even include it in the price for MobileMe and charge 20 or 30 a year for non-MobileMe members.

This service should be included with mobileme.

When you see how expensive it is for a ******** service ...

It would appear that things are coming together nicely for Apple's mobile/cloud ecosystem. Though there's a long way to go to catch up with Google in this space.

They have a long to catch up in terms of quantity, but quality? Some of Google's apps are not that great. Search, mail, map, and reader are great on Google. The user's experience with Buzz, Documents, Wave, etc.. have little to be desired.

I'm currently using Apple's free trial of MobileMe and it is a joy to use. It's not perfect, but the seamless integration is great. Is it worth the $99/year? To me, no, but I've found subscriptions available for $60/year. For $60 it's worth it to me.

I can't actually remember my Apple ID password, so I hit the link to reset it. It redirected me from the site iwork.com to iforgot.apple.com. I find this strangely hilarious. I may need another cup of coffee, though.

Huh? Apple needs to include it free for Mobileme users. They have to give more compelling reasons for people to sign up for a Mobileme account. I've had Mobileme since it was iTools. When it was iTools the whole service was free, then I paid for Dot Mac and now Mobileme. The least they could do is offer iWork.com free for us Mobileme subscribers when the beta ends.

MobileMe and Quality?
You are paying a lot of money but you have no https in Web-Apps.:rolleyes:

I just tried it out and whilst useful for sharing documents, it isn't any good if you cant modify it online. It sure looks pretty, but there are better online sharing and editing solutions available now.

I will keep my eye on it tho as it could develop into something great.
