That wasn't likely, just too many plates in the air at the same time. It's a significant architectural change and Apple don't ever give us everything in one go. They'll be able to sell us the redesigned Macbook with M1 next year as well.

Air is great, but mac mini maxing out at 16gb ram is disappointing. I guess should have realized what unified memory means..

You'd think, but on my 5,1 with Catalina there are at least three system processes that compete to get to 100%.

Your 5,1 is a decade old. They max out at 12 cores/24 threads, or less than a Ryzen 3900x (a 500 CPU).
