For those of us who want to have as little smartphone as possible in their lives, the mini also had to compete with the much cheaper iPhone SE (2020/2022). Besides the elephant in the room, the camera, the iPhone SE 2020 was a much better deal than the 12 mini when the latter came out. The SE was already being sold at a discount and didn't require you to remove a face mask to unlock it.

I still have my iPhone 5 as well 🙂 Everything is going to be comparatively 'low-spec' after a couple of years. The question is, does it do the job you need it to? I need something that fits in my pocket, in one hand, and doesn't weigh a lot (comparatively). It does all of those things and 90%+ of everything today's pro models do, while costing ~half as much. The day-to-day performance of the newer pro phones over the 13 mini, beyond battery, isn't going to be noticed by most consumers.

Looking forward to that Galaxy/Space/Titanium Black  Watch Ultra 2. I'm 75% sure I will also upgrade to the iPhone 15 Pro Max with the Apple Port (USB-C), and 5-6x zoom, but I'm not 100% sold yet.

HOOOLD IT!!! This is from Macworld and is just another phony!!! Read the blurb. It states "(The last time we did this, some people questioned whether it was real or not until after the WWDC keynote, when it was clear that we made the whole thing up. While we can’t vouch for the validity of the most recent file we pilfered, we can vouch for the gullibility of the Internet.)"

It's pretty obvious this is a gag... do NOT trust those guys!

They've done this with TWO apple events before, now a third!

I'll go ahead and delete my post, but I saw that it was a gag, and still read the whole thing!

Similar situation. Our daughter was also the last one of her friends to get a phone (she has been using an older iPad Pro for texting, school, etc). When she turned 13 last May as a birthday gift she would get an iPhone at the beginning of her 8th grade year. Buying a new phone was out of the question, so, last week we got her an iPhone 12 128GB, together with a sturdy case and we set something limits on use at school and home. She was super excited and shared it with her friends, who were also very excited. Got the phone refurbished from the Bay, so it also came with a 1 year warranty. Hope we don't have to use it.

I find it interesting Apple is going to give up a nice profit center screwing everyone with this hold out so long but they have found a way to recoup any lost revenue while saving the planet yet again! Much like when they pulled the phone chargers out of the box with the iPhone (to save all that waste) Now the are going "Vegan" leather for cases - Brilliant. So let's say the leather iPhone cases came in at oh say $5.00 landed cost, now the new Placti-I mean Vegan case will only cost them 2.00 - it goes a long way of replacing lost revenue from the Lighting Connector...

Why not go for a 12 or 12 Pro refurb? I have one and it's absolutely fine.

Oops. Sorry, I meant to type iPhone 13 mini (just edited/fixed). And that is all about the device's smaller physical dimensions. Him carrying anything, let alone a phone, is laughable. So the easier it is to pocket, the better.
I may be interested din the SE, but want to see that in person before pulling any triggers.

Did anybody get more info on that R phone thing btw? I hadn't been keeping up if anything else came out. The timing coincides with tomorrow but seemingly unrelated after this video on TikTok (that was already posted). For anyone who didn't see it Here's a link, and I attached a still. Sorry if it seems out of left field but I was curious if there was still a thread about it or any more news.

I'm so sad about the end of the small phone. After alllll the marketing apple did to justify having a smaller phone (iPhone 5/5s ads, when androids were starting to become phablets), to giving in to the market, just to return to making a smaller phone again in 2020. Fast forward to axing it after two years in 2021. I love my 13 mini and don't plan to upgrade besides battery any time soon. Sad trombone noises.

I'll be a launch day customer. Only a few things to check on to decide what model; but likely the 15 Pro to replace my Xr.
