ok i tried searching for this and found nothing at all.

what is the exchange policy from apple if you by a product and it is updated say withing 2 weeks or less?

i'm thinking about just buying a mbp cause i dont think there will be updates but i only want to do it if i know i can exchange if a new one comes out next week at wwdc

First you have to buy it from Apple directly.

If you order online, the exchange is processed through the online store; if you buy it at the retail store, you take everything back, packed in the original packaging and they will swap the machine; mind you if the machine is not in stock they won't swap; this is really a favor Apple is doing--they're not obligated to do it.

You also can't swap a custom BTO.

so if you order it online and open it and then a new product comes out in a week you can exchange it? and is it free to exchange it?

The policy is that open Macs have a 10% restock fee, although occassionaly you'll read about people who had luck talking managers out of it.

Exchanges are always free and it will only be done either a hardware defect or a "revision"

actually now that i think about it, wwdc would come before it was to my house so it actually wouldnt be open. what happens in that case?

then there would not be a restocking fee-- don't see why they wouldn't exchange it for you
