As a One+ member, the amount, and size, of ads News+ makes it almost unusable. Definitely frustrating.
I shudder to think about an add-heavy Music. Gross.

Just remember if it is FREE you are the product...Theres no such thing as FREE and APPLE, those words never belong together.
If its not free and specially overpriced, just remember, somebody wants put their fingers into your wallet.Just remember if it is FREE you are the product...
Oh, I know that... I just want that dip in my wallet to be once for your average product. Music as a Service I am ok with. Applications like Office, Photoshop,FinalCut Pro, well lets just say not so much... I dropped Adobe like a hot rock when they wanted me to start paying $10+ a month... The whole subscription thing is them taking money out of your pocket forever. If its not free and specially overpriced, just remember, somebody wants put their fingers into your wallet.
Plus, since Apple’s unwilling to give customer data to advertisers, advertisers likely wouldn’t want to pay enough to make it worth the effort.I mean, obviously. Would completely undermine the model to start offering a free tier.
Where are you seeing that many ads? I just looked in News+ and I’m seeing very few ads in the main interface. Once you click on a publisher, the ads you see are provided by the publisher, but most publishers I read don’t have any ads in their stories (of course, some are essentially .pdf’s of ther printed product, so those ads are baked in).As a One+ member, the amount, and size, of ads News+ makes it almost unusable.
Why is that funny rather than, say, irrelevant? What's funny is that Apple News has a free tier.
Whoops! Sorry, missed that. My bad. Been thinking about iCloud storage lately, I guess. That is not true. It includes Fitness+
As a former journalist, I find it funny that Apple doesn't have an ad-supported free Music tier but does have an ad-supported free newspaper tier. Why is that funny rather than, say, irrelevant?
While I subscribe to News+ (via One+), the majority of my interaction with the app/service is under the Today tab. This is where I’m seeing an avalanche of ads. The breaking point (one that saw me leave feedback with Apple - hey, I did what I could) was the other day when I counted EIGHTEEN ADS in a single article! And some of them take up the entire vertical screen of my 12 Pro. Bonkers. Suffice it to say, the ad-to-article ratio was not at all in my favor. And it left me feeling how I do when using Google or Facebook: used. Gross.Where are you seeing that many ads? I just looked in News+ and I’m seeing very few ads in the main interface. Wow, my experience couldn’t be more different. I’m seeing one ad for every three screens of content on my iPad Pro (Croods) in the main interface. Once you click on anything there, though, you’re in the area the Publisher controls. For example, for People, 8 ads in a story. Vice, 2 in a similar sized story, Hollywood insider, none. It’s the same on my 12 Pro Max.While I subscribe to News+ (via One+), the majority of my interaction with the app/service is under the Today tab. This is where I’m seeing an avalanche of ads. There's no such thing as FREE and QUALITY, those words never belong together.Theres no such thing as FREE and APPLE, those words never belong together.
It’s called monopoly. In other words, the App Store. Any app will always have to pay the artist and Apple, putting Apple in advantage over all. This is where we are.Artists get paid better with Apple Music over spotify because of not having a "free-tier". Which is a good thing.
Too bad any app will always have to pay the artist and Apple. If only there was a way for apps, like Spotify, to avoid that charge to Apple by taking those charges outside the app. It’s called monopoly. In other words, the App Store. Some countries have different pricing. In Costa Rica for instance, the family plan does cost 9.99 USD, and I know this also applies to other Central American countries. I think it has to do with the minimum wage and how much people are willing to pay based on how the US dollar is priced in that country.Isn't it $14.99/mo?
Exactl! Not because of Apple, but because music isn’t free.
And music has to either get more expensive, or artists need to get larger share of the streaming revenue. As the current situation is, they are earning pennies, and this is unsustainable (for artists, of course, for those running the music industry, they make piles of money).
Yeah, and that’s okay. Some countries have different pricing. In Costa Rica for instance, the family plan does cost 9.99 USD, and I know this also applies to other Central American countries.
