I keep hoping there's a secret Siri-Watson announcement tomorrow given that the tagline is "wish we could say more". Maybe they're being very literal in that they can't even hint at the things to come, but they tend to add puzzle-puns to the invitations. Nothing about watch/iphone/payments relates to "saying more" to me.

...I think you may be reading into something a bit much...

I don't have any isssues with it myself.

I must be in the way poeple expect Siri to work. Just like any voice recongnition software, you have to pronounce the keywords correctly and normally you are ok.

Now, will Siri get every little nuance and understand every detail of you life? Not yet but soon enough they will start acting like little assistants.
(Which could be a little scary.)

Speaking slowly and clearly in a quiet room, with a full 4G/wifi signal, just need Siri to be reliable and accurately voice dial for me for once.

It's the little things it continually fails at...

Too bad Siri is still an useless gimmick perpetually stuck in beta. I mean, having to access the internet to set a reminder on my phone? WTF?

Or needing an internet connection to stinking voice dial somebody!!!

It's mind bottling, really.

Siri could improve and should improve over time. Has anyone received a Siri update?

We've been saying this for the past three years…AND still waiting.

Personally, Siri may be helpful to some, but I thing it's a huge marketing gimmick.

Silently Apple accepts Siri as the lackluster half baked dud it was. Good news is whenever they throw in the towel and start over they generally do better. This time around they've got Google Now to borrow (Apple never copies) some good ideas from.

Improvement highly needed!

Don’t get me wrong I like Siri. Use it on a daily basis. With iOS 8 they introduced some enjoyable additions and variations. She even responded me with println(“How cool is Swift right?”) and other developer puns. But in german I can’t even put in some specific times, like 3:40 always becoming 3:00 and me having to enter 3:41 for it to work. Restricted hands free mode is welcome. Good to enter corrections because it stays active for short time after your last command. But it already did go off while watching someone say “Hey <not Siri>” on youtube.

I hope they get the time entering thing down in release, considering they are going to highly feature Siri with the upcoming watch.

Welcome to Cambridge.

That's about a block from my lab. In terms of exposure, it's right across the street from Microsoft and another block away from Google.

Am I the only one that doesn't have an issue with Siri? Sure it's not perfect all the time, but normally it's accurate for me. I use Siri regularly, and it's been a benefit to my productivity.

Of course the more work being done to Siri the better!

+1. and, it's been getting noticeably more able of late, it does many more things than you think it does. feels that they have been steadily working on it quietly... i have very high hopes for the future of siri. and, a nicer voice will also be welcome.. :)

confused

So here's what I don't understand. Siri was like 90% for me when it came out. Its about 50% accurate now (can't understand why it keeps getting WORSE). The built in speech to text like you use in messages or email is about 95% for me. Why on earth don't they save the processing power and cell bandwidth and simply use the built in code for the speech to text parser, then pass the results on to siri for the 'net part? Seems like one silo not talking to the other.

Siri needs a lot of improvements.... in every way

Hey, just because Siri scoffs at your come-ons, doesn't mean she's flawed. You just gotta treat her like the digital lady that she is.

Siri has learned a lot in iOS 8. She'll continue to get smarter and stronger as time goes by. I'm looking forward to what comes with this expanded Siri speach team.

About time they did something, because the much less heralded speech recognition and comprehension teams at other companies seem to be making apple look pretty simple.

Nuance is a company like Intuit- they make crucial software for both Mac and PC, but Mac OS takes a distant back seat to the Windows product. With Apple's association with Nuance, I was hoping it would be a benefit, but nothing has changed. Hopefully this new direction will work out....

I think it is a bit of a two way street. The more someone uses Siri, the better the system is at understanding you, as well as you are better at issuing commands it understands.

I believe this is also why I have little to no issues with it. I often use Siri via headset, Handsfree in the car, as well as straight from the phone (in quiet and loud areas) just fine.

The understanding is not the problem, the problem is that series capabilities seem like they have not changed meaningfully in the past two years.

For instance, in the above paragraph which was dictated via Siri, Siri was unable to use context to determine that I was saying Siri instead of the word series.

Or needing an internet connection to stinking voice dial somebody!!!

Or needing an internet connection to play music… that's already on your phone.

Mind bottling, eh? Now there's an odd visual...

Uh… not really. It's a fairly standard saying, mate.

Hoping for improvements (especialy non-english versions) but so far apple's developements have always been very US-centric. Nuance on the other hand is very well established with many different languages.

Apart from that...as long as Siri does not work properly with external contacts and calendars (my data is synced from an exchange server) it's usefulness for me is pretty limited.

Hope others already have a better experience...I'll keep my fingers crossed.

wow,, Siri even stretches to Boston .. :)

If only DuckDuck Go would be incorporated into Siri to supply search results instead of Bing, then we COULD have said "its defiantly searching from Apple."

Maybe this may be the future ?
