About time - virus or no virus, if you knew what you wanted to buy, the physical Apple store experience was terrible.

Find the guy that was arranging for employees to help customers

Tell him what you needed

Get assigned to someone, wait

Talk to that person, and likely have to put up with someone who knows less than you do

They get someone to bring the item you want to you

You buy it

This will hopefully shortcut that lousy experience.
A lot of stores thought this was innovative, tried the Apple method for a few years, and then went back to more traditional setups with a counter. I wish the Apple method took off more, I do love the whole "find any employee to check out thing" especially what Nordstroms used to do, where I even checked out with a janitor because everyone in the store was required to carry a mobile point of sale device. Hey, shortcuts are shortcuts.

Best Buy still has these things in Airports.

In the olden days, when we used to shop in black and white, Argos were great. Just write your item number on the order slip, go and pay at the huge tills, and then wander through to the end to collect. Tended to have just what you wanted in the catalogue too - must have had a good team of buyers
Remember it well, especially those pens/pencils and that little slip of paper.....but I also remember being told that item was out of stock. Then they bought it those little computer thingys were you type in the code and check stock. 🙂
