I still don't get the appeal of the apple watch. I really don't see it as a must have device at all. I have zero desire for one. But that's me.

Wtf does that have to do with Apple certifying a new accessory type?????!

Why don't you go go post your off-topic comment on the "iPod factory reset help" thread or somewhere else equally retarded while you're at it?

*smh*

No. It's more clutter because it's an additional object that's physically present on your nightstand. But it might use less real-estate - I'll give you that.

But how does this new "Nightstand Mode" in watch OS2 figure into it? The watch needs to be on it's side and quite stable so you can, bleary-eyed, and with impaired fine motor skill, whack the crown straight DOWN to see the time at 4 AM.

No need to use the crown to see the time. When I sleep my watch sits within arm's reach on a reasonably firm but flexible arm of a couch. I only have to tap the arm of the couch anywhere and the watch will light up as pictured above. I have not tried this on a solid surface but the point is the watch will light up at apparently the slightest move.

great.. so now with integrated charger.. this mophie piece of crap will be $125 and not $59 .. stupid.. the MFi program is a money grab no matter how you look at it - its a closed system - and with cult following.. must.. pay.. the.. money.. now.. (distant gaze)

Nope. This Mophie "piece of crap" will not be affected by the MFi program since it's just a stand without any charging capabilities unless you supply it with your own legitimate Apple charging cable.

The stands, OTOH, I really don't get. Why does the watch need to be held up high at an angle while it's is predominantly off and you're asleep. It doesn't even flash notifications when it's off your wrist.
.

With the watch OS 2 it would be a clock face (night stand) when you put it on charger. But with the current OS is pointless, you are right.

Not true. It likely is for him. The difficulty for Apple is that it's impossible to fully appreciate that fact until you've actually owned one for some time. Then it's a no brainer.

A stand just seems like top-heavy clutter on your nightstand: Something else to knock over.

The reason I use a stand is because I don't want my Watch to lay on something else hard. If you pay that much money for a watch, you might as well do everything you can to take care of it.

I want them to expand it to 3rd party bands so we can get some proper band adapters. Many of the 3rd party ones are of poor quality and it's difficult to pick the right ones when you can't see them in person. I'd have more confidence if I was buying from a MFI certified manufacturer.

I've tried an Apple Watch for a month, and ended selling it. Some reasons are :
- I'm already charging two phones every night,
- Notifications on my wrist didn't change me more than if they were in my pocket : My phone is easily reachable at all time. The only times I can't use my phone are a few professional meetings or when i'm eating, and I don't need them at this time,
- I'm not too fond of the look,
- It doesn't justify it's price right now,
- There's also the fact I have to pair it with my iPhones (and thus forces me to use it, instead of my blackberry or android).

Sounds like a piece of crap. I charge mine every night, but it actually does stuff.
An Activité Pop (for instance) does stuff as well, and requires changing the battery every 6-7~ months. Just because it's not an Apple Watch does not mean it's a piece of crap.

Still, you're intersted in the Watch enough to read and comment an article about its accessories. So either you're a troll or the right side of your brain is whispering something to you ;)

I like these docks, some are very well made, and excellent accessories

Why have you got 2 phones? Affair phone? :D - And you have a a Blackberry!!

Sure. All valid for you and that's perfectly fair.

I love mine for the things you don't mention.
home automation. Lights / heating / Blinds etc. Looking forward to proper home kit integration.
Exercise. Phone in Water pac on back and still get all the data notifications / calls etc .
GPS. The Walking around - Turn notifications is just nice.

Certainly think V2 will probably be the one to get though - I reckon it will have Face Time camera. more phone independence. Better battery. More sensors

As for the docks... they just all seem really big.

Sorry to break it to you, but that hardly qualifies as a smart watch. It doesn't do even a fraction of what an apple watch does. It doesn't even have notifications of any sort, nor a screen. It's basically a regular watch with a built in fitness tracker. Let's not compare apples to oranges, that's just silly.

As a matter of fact they don't even market it as a smart watch, they call it an activity monitor.

Thank god. I was afraid that this would be an Apple Watch thread without this comment in it. Seriously, who cares? What compells people to go in threads about products and say that they don't need one? What does it add?

I guess I will go now to the Procter and Gamble forums and post why I don't need tampons.

a smartwatch is nothing more than a watch doing more than an usual watch : there's synchronization of datas to your phone, which means it's "smart".
Apple didn't invent the term nor the definition.

But if you really wish, Pebble has more battery life and is a smartwatch too.

Dude. I've been an apple user before it was cool to be one. Way before you I bet. I'm no troll. Just voicing my opinion on a product. Um...I think that's what forums are for. Duh. Me thinks you & those who jumped on my post are a tad over sensitive.

Well, it definitely is. There are some problems with Pebble though:

1. It is horrendously ugly, each and every model. Poor design, bad displays, etc. Ugly as hell.
2. It lacks in-depth integration with ios: app notifications, re-use of iphone features, all that jazz.
3. It is practically useless as an activity tracker.

So far, with all the downsides: battery life, iPhone dependence, price, all of it, Apple watch is the best in class. And guess what, there is just one thing that would require a longer than day battery life: sleep tracking. That is one unfortunate issue with this version of Apple watch. One.

So, if not a troll, it may be option B ;) Watch is already a joy to use, at least in my experience.

I have multiple phones for a few reasons :
- One for my own business, one for personnal/my job,
- I usually carry 2, and often switch between the iphone and the sony because it's nice to change once in a while ;)
- I develop smartphone apps, so I have to test them ;)

I guess I can't really love it because home automation isn't really a thing over here (really pricy for what it does, and very uncommon in France), and I already have an activity tracker :p
Although the GPS, I like to see where I'm going and a big screen is actually a plus for me in this case.

But good if you love it! In any way, even if it's not the product for me, it'll elad the way for better products until something actually catches my eyes ;)
