Samsung is not a threat. The only Samsung users I know either A) like the concept behind Apple's products, but insist on a cheaper alternative or B) strongly dislike Apple anything, and deliberately buy outside the Apple ecosystem out of principle. Apple is not losing them as customers, because they were never Apple's customers to have.
Apple needs to get this, and not worry about Ads that make both companies look insecure.
Samsung has never introduced anything to copy, period.

Maybe Apple should just start innovating again.

to much generalization.
I went samsung for the Note II era for none of your reasons.
I WANTED an iPhone.
But i wanted a 4.5" or larger screen. at the time I wanted the digitizing stylus (nobody else had), and a few other features that the Note II ahd at the time that were unavailable from the iPhone.
Apple absolutely lost a chance to sell me an iPhone by insisting on telling me exactly what i wanted instead of giving me options.
I at the time was completely platform free... since I was coming from the Blackberry camp.
the simple fact is, Apple does not provide enouhg options to cover a wide range of wants and needs. While they were one of the only players in the game early on, They were lightyears ahead of everyone because of how well the iPhone did work. But when competition opened up and there was finally choice that was competitive from a device and platform side, Lots of people just opted to choose to go elsewhere instead.
Heck, I still use iTunes for my music purchases. I still use my iPod touch for my music player (when not using my phone). I have a Macbook air for my computer. I'm not apposed to any products that fill my needs.
Larger screens.
Multi-tasking OS.
S-pen input.
Multiple app view.
Removable storage.
3GB ram.
Gear watch.
Two of those Apple will copy this fall.
The rest will take a couple of years.
I enjoy making hand written notes.

SO it took, what, a year for Apple to wake up and realize its advertising sucks?
Hey Mr. Cook, this is what happens when you delegate excellence.
Multitasking OS? Desktop computers had that many many years ago. A smart phone is computer so no surprise there.
S-pen input? Well, there was styluses, they just added buttons to it.
Removable storage? SD cards? Yea, feature phones had that :/
3gb ram? Again, just bringing desktop features to smartphones.
Gear watch? It's a fail and there were smart watches before Samsung.
In all seriousness, people have directly "chosen" features that exist on Samsung phones but none of those can be traced to Samsung first.

Couldn't you have just gotten a third party stylus and an app that allows hand writing? I suppose it's not the sane since the screen size would be smaller.
